Trailer Thursday: Lovely Molly
Trailer Thursday Time and on the viewing menu this week is the horror film Lovely Molly. I'm not 100% sure if it's paranormal, but it feels like it's a strong possibility. The film is directed by Eduardo Sánchez who brought us The Blair Witch Projected and starts Gretchen Lodge, Johnny Lewis and Alexandra Holden.
Please note there is harsh language & disturbing content in this trailer.
Here is the synopsis: "When newlywed Molly Reynolds returns to her long-abandoned family home, reminders of a nightmarish childhood begin seeping into her new life. A malevolent force, whether her own haunted past or some supernatural ‘thing,’ tirelessly seeks to overwhelm her. Alone and isolated in a centuries-old manor, she soon begins an inexorable descent into depravity. Somewhere in the house, in the terrible space between psychosis and possession, lies an evil that will pull Molly and all those around her into darkness and death."
Lovely Molly opens in theatres on Friday June 1, 2012.

Paranormal Pick of the Week: The Listener Season 3 Premiere May 30, 2012
Image from The Listener 'The Bank Job SEASON PREMIERE airs Wednesday, May 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV
Us Canucks like to get a jump start with the summer season, and we've already had Continuum debut last week and now this week a familiar telepath is returning for season 3. That means this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week is:
The Listener Season 3 Premiere
Wednesday May 30, 2012 at 10PM ET/PT on CTV
We've only dived into The Listener chat occasionally, but it's great to see it's season 3 is clearly in effect and heading it's way to be enjoyed this week. It looks like they are playing down some of the paranormal elements in favour of trying out for a more 'normal' life for the lead character Toby. I wonder who that will work out. he is shying away from both of those descriptors. Interesting choice. I wonder how it will all play out. See all podcasts and posts where we’ve discussed The Listener here.
Also awesome:
- Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files has a new episode this Wednesday May 30, 2012 at 10pmET on Space, and I thought this was going to be the Season 2C/3 Finale but low and behold we are going to continue to get new episodes in June on Space with season 2D/3. I'm so excited! And if you've missed any episodes of season 2C/3, there are having a marathon on Space on Sunday June 3, 2012 from 3pm - 9pm ET.
- Continuum Continues! It's so exciting to see fantastic new TV in the summer, and the fact that it's Canadian and science fiction makes it all the more awesome. The premiere episode of this time travel/crime/conspiracy science fiction show was very interesting and I can't wait to chat about it with Suzie on the podcast this week. If you missed it, catch encore presentation of the first episode on Showcase Thursday May 31, 2012 at 6PM or 9PM EST on Showcase (check your local listings); or watch online here at the Showcase website. We'll get a new episode next Sunday June 3, 2012 at it's regular timeslot of 9pm ET/PT on Showcase.

Poll Results: Which Show are you sad to see cancelled and/or not renewed
Well the results are in and I'm actually quite sad at how many choice there were for Which show are you sad to see cancelled and/or not renewed? Although I'm not surprized to see one of our faves taking up the top prize for sadness with The Secret Circle at 40%. It was closely followed by and only narrowly popped ahead of Todd and the Book of Pure Evil at 33%. Then it was 3rd place tie-o-rama with Alcatraz, Ringer and Terra Nova all at 26%.
Here are the results:
40% - Secret Circle
33% - Todd and the Book of Pure Evil
26% - Tie: Alcatraz, Ringer and Terra Nova
20% - Awake
13% - Tie: The Finder and The River
If I had put this poll up this week I could have added Sanctuary as we finally got final confirmation that the show had gone from up in the air to confirmed as cancelled. I plowed through all four seasons this winter when they started airing Mon-Thurs on Space and enjoyed every minute of it. Yet again, I was late to the game!

Fall 2012 ~ Paranormally Inclined Shows Update
Back in February we shared and discussed the paranormal-inclined Fall TV pilots, and now that the Fall 2012 TV seasons have been announced, it's time to have a look see to which of the shows made it to the next step!
Paranormal
Or at least hopefully/possibly paranormally-inclined
666 Park Avenue
Sadly no embedable trailer that's Canada-friendly, but you can watch the trailer over at the ABC website.
Description: "Welcome to The Drake, Park Avenue's most devilish address, where evil, obsession, and supernatural occurrences are all included in the rent. Unravel the mysteries of this sexy and seductively dark new drama from Alloy Entertainment (Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars"
Genre: Supernatural
The People: Terry O’Quinn, Rachael Taylor, Dave Annable, Vanessa Williams
Channel: ABC, Sundays 10PM
Website: ABC
Shannon's Take: Loved when I heard the premise, but the pairing the supernatural with 'delivering desires' could be too sleazy for me. Will have to see more.
Revolution
Original Description: "Follows a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist."
Updated Description: "After 15 years of darkness, an unlikely group sets out to save the world."
Genre: Originally we had this as paranormal, but now it looks a survivalist drama
The People: Both Supernatural creator Eric Kripke and Lost creator J.J. Abrams are executive executive producers; cast includes Billy Burke (Charlie from the Twilight films), Tracy Spiridakos (Brynn on Being Human North American) and Giancarlo Esposito (Once Upon a Time). See more about the cast, crew & show here
Channel: NBC, Mondays at 10pm/9c
Website: NBC.
Shannon's Updated Take: Although when we first chatted about this there wasn't quite enough info on it (and I mis-interpreted the description that there wouldn't be like any corporal forms of energy...lol...), but but the Kripke/Abrams connection makes it one to check out without a doubt. Plus I adore Billy Burke.
Fantasy
Beauty and the Beast (CW)
Original Description: "Loosely based on the 1980s CBS series starring Linda Hamilton, Beauty And The Beast is a modern-day romantic love story with a procedural twist."
Updated Description: "Detective Catherine Chandler is a smart, no-nonsense homicide detective. When she was a teenager, Catherine witnessed the murder of her mother at the hands of two gunmen. Catherine would have been killed too, but someone – or something – saved her. No one has ever believed her, but she knows it wasn't an animal that attacked the assassins...it was human."
Genre: Fantasy
The People: Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) and Jay Ryan (Terra Nova) see more about the cast and crew here.
Channel: CW, Thursday at 9PM
Website: The CW
Shannon's take: Holy noodle the teaser trailer above looks a lot like Teen Wolf! Out of the two Beauty and the Beasts in the running for the fall this one I was less interested in as it's procedural-centric and add to the would that it's in the Secret Circle timeslot. Jeepers. I'll likely give it a chance, but I'm don't think it's quite for me. And we'll have to see what Canadian channel it pops up on as we don't get The CW.
Superhero
Arrow
Original description: "A modern retelling of the story of DC Comics character Green Arrow." and another description: "Based on the DC Comics title, published by DC Entertainment, this hourlong drama is a modern retelling of the legendary DC Comics character Green Arrow."
Updated Description: "After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island."
Genre: Superhero
The People: Stephen Amell (Heartland, Private Practice), Colin Donnell, Katie Cassidy (S3 Ruby on Supernatural), David Ramsey, Willa Holland, with Susanna Thompson and Paul Blackthorne (The Gates, The Dresdin Files, The River), and see more about the cast and crew here.
Channel: CW, Wednesday 8PM
Website: The CW
Shannon's Updated Take: Yep, I'm in. So there. No question.
Not Paranormal/SciFi/Fantasy
But Still Interest-Piquing
Cult
Picked up for mid-season, and no trailer yet.
Updated Description: "Investigative journalist Jeff Sefton has learned to laugh off his brother Nate's relentless string of obsessions, especially his latest rant that a hit TV show intends to harm him. However, when his brother mysteriously disappears, Jeff takes Nate's paranoia seriously, and in the process uncovers the dark underworld of the TV show "Cult" and its rabid fans. The only person who seems willing to help Jeff with his investigation is Skye, a young research assistant for "Cult," who has also started to grow suspicious of the increasingly dark happenings surrounding the show."
Description: "An inquisitive, young female production assistant on a wildly popular television show joins a journalist blogger in investigating the show's rabid fans. Together, the duo finds the fans might be recreating crime scenes from the show in their real lives -- behavior that has lead to a rash of disappearances and a likely murder."
Genre: Crime
The People: Stars Matt Davis (Alaric from The Vampire Diaries), Jessica Lucas, Alona Tal (Jo from Supernatural) and Robert Knepper (Prison Break); see more about the cast and crew here.
Channel: CW, Midseason
Website: The CW
Shannon's Updated Take: Casting always ends up pulling me in and I can't resist the combo of Alaric from Vampire Diaries, Jo from Supernatural and T-Bag from Prison Break - that's a WILD combo. And all great actors.
Elementary
Updated description: "In a modern-day take on Sherlock Holmes, the iconic detective is taking on New York. Just out of rehab, he's been assigned to live with his worst nightmare-sober coach, Dr. Joan Watson. Holmes's unsurpassed skills of deduction and Watson's medical expertise come together to create a dream team for solving the NYPD's most impossible cases."
Description: "Modern take on the cases of the pipe-smoking private eye with Sherlock now living in NYC." and another description: "A modern take on the cases of Sherlock Holmes, with the famed detective now living in New York City."
Genre: Mystery
The People: Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Lui, Aidan Quinn
Channel: CBS, Thursday at 10PM/9C
Website: CBS
Shannon's Updated Take: DANG. I wasn't that interested but that trailer GOT me and the fact that Watson is a woman (Lucy Lui).... that got me. And the main guy looks awesome and the chemistry looks good. Even though I'm not a procedural fan, I'll likely give this a shot.
Zero Hour
Sadly no embedable trailer that's Canada-friendly, but you can watch the trailer over at the ABC website (but you have to look for it! No perma-link found, sorry!).
Updated Description: "As the publisher of a paranormal enthusiast magazine, Modern Skeptic, Hank Galliston has spent his career following clues, debunking myths and solving conspiracies. A confessed paranormal junkie, his motto is logic is the compass. But when his beautiful wife, Laila (Jacinda Barrett), is abducted from her antique clock shop, Hank gets pulled into one of the most compelling mysteries in human history, stretching around the world and back centuries."
Description: "Centers on a man who, in a bizarre twist of fate, is pulled into one of the most compelling conspiracies in human history after spending 20 years as the editor of a skeptics magazine." and another description: "A bizarre twist of fate pulls a man who's spent 20 years as the editor of a skeptics magazine into one of the most compelling conspiracies in human history."
Genre: Conspiracy/Paranormal
The People: Anthony Edwards, Carmen Ejogo, Scott Michael Foster, Addison Timlin, Jacinda Barrett, and Michael Nyqvist
Channel: ABC, Midseason (we'll see it in 2013)
Website: ABC
Shannon's Updated take: Although it's noted as paranormal it's more of the old school religious connection, but with Prison Break creator Paul T. Scheuring as writer/executive producer and Pierre Morel (District B13) directing, my interest is piqued.
Last Resort
Sadly no embedable trailer that's Canada-friendly, but you can watch the trailer over at the ABC website.
Description: "The Captain and crew of the Colorado are on the run. After questioning orders to fire nuclear missiles into Pakistan, they've become a target, with no choice but to find safe harbor on an exotic island."
Genre: Drama
The People: Scott Speedman, Robert Patrick, Jessy Schram, Andre Braugher
Channel: ABC, Thursdays 8pm
Website: ABC
Shannon's Take: I'm a sucker for isolation dramas (Lost, BSG, Star Trek Voyager) and I like the cast so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to give this a chance! It's on at the same time as Vampire Diaries though, so I don't think I'm their target market.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many of the shows we originally mentioned back in February didn't actually make it further, but the only on I've heard of so far that may do so is The Selection (the "an epic romance set 300 years in the future which centers on a poor young woman who is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads."); which is currently in development.
That's what I've culled out as from the announcements from the major US networks line ups from last week. If you want to see all the shows (new and returning) here is an awesome grid, or check out the individual networks:
The CW Fall Line Up, Fox Fall Line Up, NBC Fall Line Up, CBS Fall Line Up and ABC Fall Line Up. We'll have to see where these land on the Canadian viewing schedule and of course will keep people up to date on Canadian line ups as they become available.
Trailer Thursday: Chernobyl Diaries
Trailer Thursday Time! Up this week, and originally shared with us by Suzie (good eye Suzie!), the Oren Peli film Chernobyl Diaries. Extreme tourism with a found footage feel and honestly, this one looks pretty scary and very thrilling/fun. The film is directed by Bradley Parker and stars Jonathan Sadowski, Devin Kelley, Jesse McCartney, Olivia Dudley, Nathan Phillips, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Dimitri Diatchenko.
Here is the synopsis: "Chernobyl Diaries is an original story from Oren Peli, who first terrified audiences with his groundbreaking thriller, Paranormal Activity. The film follows a group of six young tourists who, looking to go off the beaten path, hire an "extreme tour" guide. Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town since the disaster more than 25 years ago. After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, however, the group soon finds themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone..."
Chernobyl Diaries opens in wide release on Friday May 25, 2012.
Pararanormal DVD Picks: Teen Wolf Season 1, The River Season 1 and The Woman in Black,
Images: THE RIVER: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (©2012 ABC Studios. All Rights Reserved); The Woman in Black (Courtesy of Alliance Films)
With the summer season of shows starting to premiere it means it's time for their previous season to start hitting DVD and BluRay and that means this week we get not only summer show Teen Wolf on DVD but also the looks like only 1-season The River as well. As a special treat for spooky fans we are also getting the film The Woman in Black on DVD and Blu-Ray. It's a good time to be a fan of the supernatural! Here are more details:
Paranormal DVD/BluRay Releases May 22, 2012:
- Teen Wolf: Season 1 We really the first season of this summer werewolf TV series starring Tyler Posey, Dylan O'Brien, Colton Haynes and Crystal Reed. It uses the premise of the 80's Michael J. Fox film of a teenage werewolf but updates it to current day and keeps the teen angst, comedy and uses the supernatural elements very well. We chatted about each and every episodes of the first season here and did an episode-by-episode rundown of season 1 here.
- The River Complete Season First Season from the folks that brought us the creepy Paranormal Activity we get this creepy drama with a strong POV and found footage feel as a family looks for their lost-in-the-wilderness wilderness documentary father. We only chatted about this one occasionally, I know it only dropped of my viewing schedule when it became harder to find exactly *when* it was on. I would love to re-visit the series on DVD. The DVD includes 8 episodes, 13 deleted scenes, a behind-the-scenes look and the series and audio commentaries on season opener Magus and closer Row, Row, Row Your Boat (344 minutes).
- The Woman in Black Supernatural Film Pick! It was actually a Movie Movie Book to Film Club back in October 2011 and was released in February 2012. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe (of the Harry Potter series) as a young lawyer to settle the affairs of a woman who has passed. The art direction are setting are spectacular but I thought they went for too consistently melancholy tone and made some serious changes from the book. Still, it's a must-see for the supernatural film fan.
I really enjoyed this fourth season of the magical, medieval world of Merlin, and after marathon-ing a few of it's seasons earlier in the year I find watching them several at a time works very well. You can choose to do the same this Monday May 21, 2012 with the marathon on Space.
If you haven't had a chance to check out this fantastic, fun-spirited show that's a new spin on the Arthurian tale from Merlin as a young apprentice perspective, you have time to dive in and catch up with this latest season. The show has been renewed for a 5th season so there no fear that there won't be more Merlin in our future.
Face Off Season 1 Marathon
Sunday May 20, 2012 from 12noon - 8pm EST on Space Channel
I'm so excited to share this news! All day on Sunday May 20, 2012 (12-8pm EST) you can enjoy a marathon of Season 1 of Face Off on Space. I hopped on the Face Off train with Season 2 and adored each and every episode, but I haven't seen any of Season 1.
For the uninitiated, Face Off is a competition based reality series following make up artists and it's a fantastic look as seeing the creative mind at work. I almost didn't want to post about this as I haven't seen Season 1 therefore have no idea who wins (and hope I make it to Sunday without finding out!). Although the show is not paranormal itself, the world of make up certainly plays a huge part in many of our shows with creature creation.
I know what I'm doing this weekend!
Trailer Thursday Ship-Off!! Battleship vs American Warships
We have a bit of a ship-off this week with the theatrical release of Battleship (yes, it's based on the board game) and the TV film release of American Warships (Yes, it used to be called American Battleship and has a striking similarity to Battleship - see more on that battle here). It's wild because they are both over the top crazy looking movies. And I have a feeling I will be aiming to see both of them. But if you are feeling less adventurous, here are the deets to help you decide between the two films.
Battleship
Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane"
School Spirits Debuts on Space July 4, 2012
Really exciting news for the non-fiction paranormal TV fans: new show School Spirits will debut on Space July 4, 2012. And it sounds very spooky. Here is the series description from a media release:
"SCHOOL SPIRITS will tell true ghost stories of hauntings that have happened at schools across the country. The stories will be told in first person narratives through the testimonials of real students, teachers, parents and staff that have encountered the paranormal activity, blended with bone-chilling cinematic reenactments to further bring the haunting experiences to life."
Sounds creepy to me. Three isn't too much more information available about the show yet, it does have an IMDb Page, although so far it doesn't have many details. We'll keep you posted!
The Almighty Johnsons coming to Space July 2012
Image: The Brothers and Olaf from The Almighty Johnsons
Have no fear, The Almighty Johnsons are here! Well almost, they will be coming to Space July 2012. This is new to us but it's actually a New Zealand series that's already in it's second season. Here's the series description from the media release:
"THE ALMIGHT JOHNSONS is a new South Pacific Pictures comedy-drama series about four brothers, raised in Heartland New Zealand, who also happen to be the living incarnations of Norse Gods. Each of the Johnson boys, Anders, Mike, Axl an Ty, has their own powers; it's just that their powers aren't that powerful. Well, not yet - but that could all change soon."
You had me at New Zealand + Norse Gods. Sounds awesome, although from the trailer below it looks pretty guy-centred for audiences, but I'm still easily going to give it a shot. For the spoiler sensitive, you might to keep the trigger on the pause button as it shows a lot of the show.
Who says there is nothing to watch in the summer?
See more about The ALmighty Johnsons at their official website and IMDb Page, and again for the spoiler-sensitive the show is in it's second season so could stumble on future stuff-to-us. You can also check out the shows Wikipedia Page.
Alphas Season 2 Premieres on Space on Monday July 23, 2012
Continuing with the Summer Release dates we also now have a return date for Alphas with Season 2 premiering on Space on Monday July 23, 2012 at 10PM. I'm extra-special excited as that's my birthday!! What a lovely birthday treat :)
If you are unfamiliar with Alphas, the series is centred on characters who have very specific abilities beyond the range of normal human capabilities; when discovered have the option to join an organization or go to 'the compound'.
Space has been re-airing Season 1 of Alphas Mondays at 9pm and I have been watching along as I quite enjoyed the show last year and have enjoyed re-visiting it. It's way more involved and has quite a subtle arc and lots of grey-area questions, which give it a refreshing complexity.
Suzie & I have chatted about each and every episode of Alphas in it's first season, check out this handy-dandy quick reference of our podcast chats.
Teen Wolf Season 2 Returns to Much Music Monday June 4, 2012
I'm so excited to share that we are less than a month away the return of Teen Wolf! Season 2 of Teen Wolf will premiere on Much Music on Monday June 4, 2012 at 8PM. If that's just too long to wait to get your wolf on you can check out the trailer for Season 2 here (I found it too spoilery for my taste, just a head's up).
If you need to a refresher on Season 1, you can always check out Suzie & I's chats on the podcast all the way through Season 1 or read the Teen Wolf Season 1 run downs (see archive below). Teen Wolf Season 1 will also be available on DVD as of May 22, 2012. I've been re-watching the in anticipation of Season 2 and it is so much fun and a great escapist show for the summer. I have lots of fond memories chatting with Suzie about it last year, and look forward to Season 2.
Secret Circle & Ringer Cancelled
I do not like sharing bad news, but I couldn't hold back any longer. Both Secret Circle and Ringer have been cancelled. I'm so sad! Both shows finished their Season 1 runs and I enjoyed them both a lot. I know we didn't talk about Ringer all the time but we did chat about Secret Circle all season long.
The CW is announcing their fall line up on Thursday May 17, 2012 and I'll be combing it *very* carefully to see what what will be airing in their place. But until then, I'll be on the grumpy spot.
Parnormal Pick of the Week: Supernatural Season 7 Finale
Image Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester, Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester
Considering that Suzie & I have talked about Supernatural and loved it for years, it's very easy and makes me very happy to announce this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week:
Supernatural Season 7 Finale
I really can't wait, what trouble with the boys get into (and out of?) this time. I'm especially excited give that Supernatural has been renewed for Season 8. Not all of our shows were that lucky this year. But, sticking with the happy for the moment - yay Supernatural!
Also awesome this week:
- Grimm Season Finale
- American Warships on Space - Saturday May 19, 2012 at 9pm EST ~ this was previously called American Battleship as a mock-buster tie in to this weeks theatrical release of Battleship.
- Face Off Season 1 Marathon on Space - Sunday May 20, 2012 from 12noon - 8pm EST. I'm really excited about this as I only jumped on the Face Off train in season 2.
- Merlin Season 4 Marathon on Space - Monday May 21, 2012 from 8am - 9pm EST. Technically I consider this 'next week' as it's on on Monday, but considering it's Victoria Day here (aka the May 2-4), I think it's fair to keep in on this weeks radar for your stat holiday pick.
Being Human Season UK 4 Marathon!
Sunday May 13, 2012 from 11AM - 9PM EST on Space
I'm so excited to share that Space has this awesome treat for Being Human UK with a Season 4 Marathon where you can re-live each and every episode from season (or series) 4, all day long starting at 11AM EST.
I think it's fair to say that both Suzie & I had very STRONG reactions to Being Human (UK) Season/Series 4. Listen to our spoiler-free pre-Season 4 mini-chat for more on that, and I will admit to being happy to sticking in through and watching the entire season. In that way, I think it's actually great to marathon it all in one go to limit the desire to throw things at the TV. That might sound like a back-handed compliment, and maybe it is but the important part is that it IS a compliment - the show is quite amazing and continues to impress with it's blend of human, humanity and darkness on the supernatural side of the tracks.
Paranormal Pick of the Week: Finale Frenzy Week: Secret Circle, Vampire Diaries & Fringe
When it comes to our regular shows, it's just not fair to pick favourites for finales. That's why this week the Paranormal Pick of the Week is triple the goodness aka Finale Frenzy Week:
Vampire Diaries Season 3 Finale - Thursday May 10, 2012 at 7pm EST on CTV *
Secret Circle Season 1 Finale - Thursday May 10, 2012 at 8pm EST on CHCH *
Fringe Season 4 Finale - Friday May 11, 2012 at 9pm EST on CityTV *
Here at Hexed we've been chatting about Secret Circle, Vampire Diaries & Fringe throughout their current seasons and I'm curious to see how each of them will come to a close and we'll do my best to avoid spoilers throughout this week; although regular Hexed listeners will know I've not had great luck with this recently!
Series Renewals
We do have confirmation that Vampire Diaries will head into it's fourth season in the fall, and Fringe will have a fifth and final 13-episode season closing off the series. Secret Circle appears to be 'on the bubble' as they say, and it's one of the shows I've enjoyed the most this year so I am really hoping for a Season 2. Fingers crossed!
* These are the times Shannon watches them, but be sure to check your local listings.
The Listener Season 3 Premieres on CTV May 30, 2012
Image from The Listener 'The Bank Job SEASON PREMIERE airs Wednesday, May 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV
The Listener returns with Season 3, premiering on May 30, 2012 at 10PM ET/PT on CTV.
It's time for the telepathic paramedic Toby to return to TV, although it looks like in season 3 he is shying away from both of those descriptors. Interesting choice. I wonder how it will all play out.
Here are the details from the media release:
"THE LISTENER – Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV beginning May 30
In the highly-anticipated third season of CTV’s hit Original Series THE LISTENER, Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik, The Timekeeper) decides to ignore his telepathic abilities and live a normal life. Choosing to step away from his role as a paramedic to work more closely with the Integrated Investigative Bureau (IIB) and Sgt. Michelle McCluskey (Gemini Award-nominee Lauren Lee Smith, CSI), he puts undue pressure on himself to prove to his peers that he belongs. While his new consultant role means curtailing some of his EMS duties, the critical care team remains the emotional heart of his complicated life. This is especially true when Toby’s best friend and paramedic partner, Oz (Ennis Esmer, THE L.A. COMPLEX), moves into the apartment next door and tries to work up the courage to make a commitment to St. Luke Hospital triage nurse Sandy (Tara Spencer-Nairn, CORNER GAS)."
Although we are enthusiastic about this Canadian paranormal drama the odd/erratic scheduling and very procedural structure made Shannon bow out on this one the last time she tried watching it. Maybe in Season 3 she'll see the light! See all podcasts and posts where we’ve discussed The Listener here.
Update:
Good news if people watch to catch up on Season 1 & 2; or watch Season 3 online after it airs. Here's the details from the media release about watching the show online: "New episodes of THE LISTENER are available on demand the day following their television broadcast on the CTV Video Player. Viewers can get the latest news, play the THE LISTENER’s Vision Buster game, or catch up on episodes from Seasons 1 and 2 on the series web portal at TheListener.CTV.ca. Fans can also visit THE LISTENER’s Facebook page and follow on Twitter (@listenertv) for show updates and exclusive behind-the-scenes videos from series stars Ennis Esmer (Oz Bey) and Rainbow Sun Francks (Dev Clark)."
Supernatural Season 8 & Vampire Diaries Season 4 Confirmed by CW
It's official! Supernatural Season 8 & Vampire Diaries Season 4 will happen, as confirmed by the CW with them being returning shows for the 2012-13 Seasons (along with 90210). The article also notes that Vampire Diaries Season 4 will return in Fall 2012, but that's as specific as they get.
I'm so excited. Although I don't think either Suzie or I have been super keen on Vampire Diaries in it's current season 3, I am STOKED about Supernatural. I usually re-watch the entire series in the summer, and although that will be a challenge with 7 seasons to get through I think I might do it again this year. We'll see.
A big thank you to Kevin of Tuning into SciFi TV for sharing the happy news with us.
Continuum Premieres May 27, 2012 on Showcase
Image: Cast Picture for Continuum
I am so excited to share that we've now heard a confirmed premiere date & time slot for the upcoming science fiction series Continuum! It will premiere on Sunday May 27, 2012 at 9pm ET/PT on Showcase; and run Sundays at 9PM (Source: TV, eh? Thank you TV, eh?!)
For fellow Showcase channel watchers, you'll note this is the time that previously housed Lost Girl, one of our regularly chatted about shows here at Hexed. I love that Continuum will be on Sundays at 9pm, because I'm already so used to watching something at that time! And I totally use it as incentive to be done all my Sunday 'to do's' by that time, so I can park myself in front of some awesome TV.
If you need a reminder about what Continuum is about, here is handy-dandy description "A detective from the year 2077 who finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver, and searching for ruthless criminals from the future." and it will star Rachel Nichols, Victor Webster, Erik Knudsen as well as Stephen Lobo, Roger Cross, Lexa Doig, Omari Newton, Luvia Petersen and Terry Chen.
So, want to take a look? There is this trailer which features the series protagonist, and for the geo-blocked US folks, you can see one of the trailers here.
Suzie & I are definitely looking forward to checking out & sharing more about Continuum. Stay tuned!
