Paranormal Pick of the Week: Witches of East End Season 1 Finale

One of my new favourite series this year is definitely Witches of East End. Although we don't often get a chance to chat about this one on the podcast, we are both really enjoying it. I'm thrilled Lifetime Canada is not only airing it on TV but also online, which makes it so much easier to catch. I wonder what craziness will be unveiled in the finale, it's sure to be very exciting!

Witches of East End Season 1 Finale
Sunday December 15, 2013 at 10PM ET / 7PM PT on Lifetime Canada

Here is a series description: "Based on Melissa de la Cruz’s best-selling novel, Witches of East End follows Joanna Beauchamp (Julia Ormond) and her two adult daughters Freya (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) and Ingrid (Rachel Boston) whom, unbeknownst to them, are their family’s next generation of witches. Leading ordinary modern day lives in Long Island’s secluded seaside town of East Haven, when Freya becomes engaged to a wealthy newcomer, a series of events forces Joanna to admit to her daughters they are powerful and immortal witches. Mädchen Amick stars as Joanna’s mischievous witch sister Wendy."

We are also happy to share with fans that Witches of East End has been renewed and Season 2 will have 13 episodes that will begin airing in 2014. So exciting!

Also Awesome / Schedule Updates
  • Attention Haunted Highway and Killer Contact fans! Both shows are airing twice a week now at Space with new episodes on both Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Now we can get scared even more throughout the week!
  • Grimm has 2 episodes airing this week, so be sure to check your local listings and set your PVRs/Tivos and adjust your watching habits accordingly.  Some channels start an hour early, others go an hour later.  We don't want anyone to miss out on the awesomeness of the show, especially as after this it will be on hiatus until the new year.

Paranormal Pick of the Week: Grimm Season 3 Premiere

We are still getting a fair amount of awesome paranormal TV debuting this week, but with a gut wrenching cliffhanger of the season 2 finale last spring, it's Grimm that gets the honour of being this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week:

Grimm ~ Season 3 Premiere
Friday October 25, 2013 on CTV and NBC

If you aren't already a fan of the show, here is a series description to get you a sense of what it's all about:

""Grimm" is a drama series inspired by the classic Grimm Brothers' Fairy Tales. After Portland Homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli, "Turn the Beat Around") discovers he's descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as "Grimms," he increasingly finds his responsibilities as a detective at odds with his new responsibilities as a "Grimm.""

Season 3 of Grimm will have 22 of episodes. Bring it ON! See more about Grimm at CTV.ca and NBC.

Also Awesome
  • Ravenswood ~ Series Premiere Tuesday October 22, 2013 on M3. This Pretty Little Liars certainly feels spooky, but we'll have to wait to see it to be 100% sure. Can't wait to check it out!
  • Dracula ~ Series Premiere Friday October 25, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT on Global and NBC. We see a lot of Dracula films over the years, but a Dracula series is a new spin and I'm so looking forward to it as it's a reimagining of the Bram Stoker novel. This British/US co-production stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jessica De Gouw, Katie McGrath, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Nonso Anozie, Victoria Smurfit, Michael Nardone and Thomas Kretschmann; Dracula is scheduled to have 10 episodes.

Paranormal Pick of the Week: Supernatural Season 9 Premiere

It's quite a busy week for season and series premieres, but I'm kicking old-school for the choice of Paranormal Pick of the Week to keep it to our roots of sibling goodness of the Winchester brothers (& co.) who return in their ninth season. That's right. Ninth season.

Supernatural ~ Season 9 Premiere
Tuesday October 8, 2013 on CHCH and The CW
~and~
Friday October 11, 2013 on 7pm on M3

Here is a little bit about Season 9 (fair warning: it may contain spoilers!):

"Dean (Jensen Ackles) is frantic after Sam (Jared Padalecki) collapses and the doctor tells Dean his brother won’t make it. Desperate, Dean sends out an all-points bulletin via prayer to every angel in the area, asking them to help his brother. In exchange, Dean owes that angel a favour. Numerous angry angels race to find and kill Dean, but one, Ezekiel (guest star Tahmoh Penikett, Man of Steel), gets to him first. Meanwhile, Sam fights for his life and must face some familiar demons to do so. Castiel (Misha Collins) struggles to survive without powers."

Also Awesome
  • The Tomorrow People Series Premiere Wednesday October 9, 2013 at 7pm on CTV and 9pm on The CW.  I'm really looking forward to this one, and even though it's a redux of a 70's show it also sounds a lot like Alphas. But, if it's awesome - I don't care what it reminds me of!
  • Once Upon a Time in Wonderland Series Premiere Thursday October 10, 2013 at 8pm ET/PT on CityTV and ABC.   I haven't watched Once Upon A Time before but I think I'm going to jump down the rabbit hole and check out this spin-off series.
  • The Walking Dead Season 4 Premiere Sunday October 13, 2013 at 9pm/8pm C on AMC. I think we're all looking forward to the return of our favourite zombie series.  After a harrowing Season 3 I'm a little scared at where they could even go this year.

Paranormal Picks of the Week: Series Premieres of The Originals and Witches of East End

This week is when we start to see The CW roll out it's TV season including the new series The Originals which was picked up by CHCH (Thank you CHCH!). I would have loved to include The Vampire Diaries as a double bill night of vampire awesomeness with our pick of the week, but the Canadian airing on CTV Two doesn't happen until Sundays at 8pm.  If you happen to get The CW, you can watch them back to back. On a happier note, we will be getting Beauty and the Beast a day early, it's second season begins this Sunday Oct 6, 2013 on Showcase.

It was too hard to choose which (or witch) show to be this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week with this week so I decided to included both new series of The Originals and Witches of East End which we just recently found out will be airing on Lifetime Canada.  Have a blessed TV Week!

The Originals - Series Premiere
Thursday Oct 3, 2013 at 9pm on CHCH and The CW *

Here is a little bit about The Originals: "An offshoot of The Vampire Diaries, The Originals centers on the Mikaelson siblings, otherwise known as the world’s original vampires: Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt).

The Original Vampire family pledge to remain together, but now their bonds of family are broken and Klaus reacts to an anonymous tip that someone is plotting against the family in the place they helped build, New Orleans."

*Please note it's regular timeslot is Tuesday at 8pm on both CHCH and The CW starting next Tuesday October 8, 2013.

Witches Of East End ~ Series Premiere
Sunday October 6, 2013 at 10pm ET/7pm PT on Lifetime Canada

Series Description: Based on Melissa de la Cruz’s best-selling novel, Witches of East End follows Joanna Beauchamp (Julia Ormond) and her two adult daughters Freya (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) and Ingrid (Rachel Boston) whom, unbeknownst to them, are their family’s next generation of witches. Leading ordinary modern day lives in Long Island’s secluded seaside town of East Haven, when Freya becomes engaged to a wealthy newcomer, a series of events forces Joanna to admit to her daughters they are powerful and immortal witches.

Also Awesome
  • Vampire Diaries Season 5 Premiere Sunday October 6, 2013 at 8pm on CTV Two (also airs Thursday Oct 3, 2013 at 8pm on The CW); it will be interesting to see how the show fairs in this timeslot 3 days after it's US airing and also how things go now that a portion of the cast will be on the spin off series The Originals.  I'm looking forward to some old school Vampire Diaries craziness myself.
  • Beauty and the Beast Season 2 Premiere Sunday October 6, 2013 at 8pm on Showcase (also airs Monday Oct 7, 2013 at 9pm on The CW).  This was definitely one of the happy surprizes of 2012 and I always looked forward to the show.  If you haven't watched it yet you can see the whole thing online over at Showcase.ca (or see my spoiler-free episode list here).
  • Arrow Season 1 Recap Wednesday October 2, 2013 at 8pm on CTV and The CW; although season 2 of Arrow doesn't start back up until next week we can all take a refresher course with this Season 1 recap episode.

Paranormal Pick of the Week: The Almighty Johnsons Finale and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Premiere

We are heading into major premiere territory as the fall premieres are in full force, and although Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is one that everyone is waiting for I have to also honour the shows that are summing up, including one of our faves: The Almighty Johnsons which has it's Season 3 Finale this week.  Who can play favourites between superheroes and Gods?  I'd be happy to watch them battle it out, but for now they both get to be our  Paranormal Pick of the Week:

The Almighty Johnsons ~ Season 3 Finale
Thursday September 26, 2013 at 9pm on Space

It's been one heck of a season for The Almighty Johnsons, I am always so impressed that the show keeps us entertained with so much humour and so much heart.  I don't have a clue how they will wrap everything up, but they often surpass expectations on finales so I have a feeling it will be a big one.  This season it's been airing in tandem with the New Zealand airings, which has been such a treat to be so up to date.  I really hope we get more of this awesome show.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ~ Series Premiere
Tuesday September 24, 2013 at 8pm on CTV

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is definitely one of, if not the, most anticipated new series this fall.  Getting an actual team of superheroes show on TV is so exciting that it's almost hard to even stand waiting.  I'm really cheering for it to be awesome, and if the trailer is any indication I think we are in for one wild ride.  And given that the team deals with the 'unknown' it qualifies as a paranormal show!

Also Awesome:
  • Fangasm Series Premiere Tuesday September 24, 2013 at 10pm ET on Space; I'm still not quite sure what this show is going to be like.  It looks like a reality competition show but not sure how it works.  I guess we'll see on Tuesday!
  • Once Upon A Time Season 3 Premiere Sunday September 29, 2013 at 7pm on CTV
  • Revolution Season 2 Premiere Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 8pm ET/PT on CityTV

Paranormal Pick of the Week: Sleepy Hollow Series Premiere

This week we official begin the Fall TV season and that means both new and returning shows to enjoy, as well as the finishing up of a few summer faves. But I'm sticking new in the spotlight, and although it's not definite how (or if) this one will be paranormal it still is this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week:

Sleepy Hollow ~ Series Premiere
Monday Sept 16, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on Global

This one looks like a blend of mystery and historical, and it's definitely got a spooky atmosphere going on. I've very curious about it and really look forward to checking out the premiere. I've kept the story of this one under wraps a bit, but if you want to know more here is a series description: "This thrilling new action-adventure drama is a modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic tale. Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison, Parade's End) is resurrected and pulled two-and-a-half centuries through time to find that the world is on the brink of destruction, and that he is humanity’s last hope, forcing him to team up with a contemporary police officer (Nicole Beharie, 42) to unravel a mystery which dates all the way back to the founding fathers."

Sleepy Hollow stars Nicole Beharie, John Cho, Orlando Jones, Tom Mison and Katia Winter.

  • The Neighbors Season 2 Premiere Friday Sept 20, 2013 at 8:30 on CTV; We were late adopters to this aliens-among-us science fiction comedy series, but totally loved it once we jumped aboard. The Series 1 finale is at 8pm in case you need to catch up a bit.
  • Under the Dome Season 1 Finale Monday Sept 16, 2013 at 10pm on Global; We didn't talk of follow this series too much but it certainly has a lot of viewers, so it only seemed fair to share the upcoming finale.
  • Doctor Who Sundays on Space continue with Sunday Sept 22, 2013 staring at 10am. This week it's time to bridge Season 2 and 3 with the following: "Wrap up season 2 of DOCTOR WHO with Episodes 7 to 13. Then, get in the Christmas spirit with the DOCTOR WHO special THE RUNAWAY BRIDE, followed by the first two episodes of season 3."
  • Heroes of Cosplay Finale Tuesday Sept 17, 2013 at 10pm on Space; Boy did they leave use hanging last week! I had no idea it was going to be a 2-parter but that makes it all the more exciting to get to see how this shows sums up. If you've yet to check out the series you can watch the whole thing marathon style Sunday Sept 22, 2013 on Space starting at 11:30pm.

September 2013 Paranomal TV New and Returning Air Dates

Pictured - The Cast of Sleepy Hollow

September is just around the corner and with it marks the return of Fall TV. Although the heavy hitter month for Hexed shows is the spooky month of October, we certainly see a lot of shows we care about hitting the small screen in the sweet month of September. It's a free for all than runs the gambit of shows we cover from non-fiction awesomenss of Ghost Mine to many fiction shows, new series like Sleepy Hollow (pictured above) and and returning new faves like The Neighbors.

I would even hazard to say September includes the most highly anticipated show of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as shows that just popped on the radar like Fangasm. With so many options, it's time to get our TV rooms (or favoured devices) ready and enjoy what the month will bring. Let's take a look what is to come in the September Preview:

Ghost Mine: Back on the Mountain
Wednesday September 4, 2013 at 9pm ET on Space

Genre: Non-Fiction Paranormal/Reality

I'm so excited to share that Season 2 of Ghost Mine will be starting in September.  Suzie and I became fast fans of the show when it debuted in January 2013, completely won over by both the paranormal investigators and the mining crew who all do extremely dangerous and challenging work. We watched and loved every episode of Season 1 and are so happy it's back for Season 2 and with a whopping 12 episodes to enjoy.  If that wasn't enough, this season kicks off with a special episode called Ghost Mine: Back on the Mountain and according the Patrick Doyle's Facebook Page, Adam "Edge" Copeland (who plays Dwight on Haven) will be hosting. This season is going to be so much fun.

Series Description: "In the remote woods of Oregon lies one of the richest gold mines in the United States that was abandoned 80 years ago when a series of tragedies gave it an infamous reputation for being haunted. Now, a new owner has decided to take on the notorious legend and reopen the mine, assembling a colorful team of miners – both seasoned and new – to battle the elements along with a pair of experienced paranormal investigators, in hopes of finding a fortune. This strong-willed and superstitious group of miners will face the day-to-day challenges of mining, aided by the paranormal investigators who unravel the mysteries surrounding the mine, including historic Masonic connections and a spirit who has been known to haunt the area for generations."

Ghost Mine Season 2 will consist of 12 episodes.

Sleepy Hollow ~ Series Premiere
Monday Sept 16, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on Global

Genre: Drama/Mystery/Historical

It's too soon to say if this one if a show we will be chatting about, but we are hoping there will be a spooky side that comes out and it not be too procedural and/or Americana (not holding our breath on that one!). But it's definitely got great atmosphere and an interesting story, which is always a great start.

Here is a series description: "This thrilling new action-adventure drama is a modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic tale.

The Neighbors ~ Season 2 Premiere
Friday September 20, 2013 at 8:30 on CTV Two

Genre: Science Fiction/Comedy

We were late to the game on the delightful science fiction comedy of The Neighbors, but once we got on the train we didn't look back.  It's such a quirky show, following a human family that unknowingly moves into a gated community of aliens.  I have to tell you, the first episode I saw was the Halloween one, and boy-oh-boy I didn't even know who were the aliens!  But over time it became clear who was who, and that some aliens just want to have fun.  This was a surprizing stand out to last years new shows, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing it's sophomore season.

Series Description: "THE NEIGHBORS follows one family’s attempt at a normal life in the suburbs, only to discover that the neighbours are aliens masquerading as suburbanites. Debbie (Jami Gertz) and Marty Weaver (Lenny Venito) recently bought a home in Hidden Hills, a coveted gated community in New Jersey, to provide a better life for their three kids. It's clear from day one that the residents of Hidden Hills are a little different. For starters, their new neighbors all have pro-athlete names like Reggie Jackson (Tim Jo), Jackie Joyner-Kersee (Toks Olagundoye), Dick Butkis (Ian Patrick) and Larry Bird (Simon Templeman). To their horror, the Weavers soon learn that the entire community is comprised of aliens from Zabvron masquerading as suburbanites where the men bear children and everyone cries green goo from their ears. Two worlds collide with hilarious consequences as everyone discovers they can "totally relate" and learn a lot from each other."

The Neighbors stars Jami Gertz, Lenny Venito, Simon Templeman, Toks Olagundoye, Clara Mamet, Tim Jo, Ian Patrick, Max Charles and Isabella Cramp.  Season 2 of The Neighbors will consist of 22 episodes.

Revolution ~ Season 2
Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 8pm ET/PT on CityTV

Genre: Drama/Science Fiction/Conspiracy

We only talked about the first few episodes of Revolution, and I'm not sure either of us will be watching it this year (it got too Civil War Americana themed and not enough science fiction-y for me) but I know that people do watch it as it's one of the higher rated shows we cover.  So, if you watch it - enjoy!

Series Description: "Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why?

Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down, the lanterns and candles are lit. Life is slower and sweeter. Or is it?

On the fringes of small farming communities, danger lurks. And a young woman’s life is dramatically changed when a local militia arrives and kills her father, who mysteriously – and unbeknownst to her – had something to do with the blackout. This brutal encounter sets her and two unlikely companions off on a daring coming-of-age journey to find answers about the past in the hopes of reclaiming the future. What would you do without it all? In this epic adventure thriller from Supernatural’s Eric Kripke and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, a family struggles to reunite in a post-apocalyptic American landscape: a world of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters, where every single piece of technology — computers, planes, cars, phones, even lights — has mysteriously blacked out … forever."

Season 2 of Revolution will consist of 22 episodes.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ~ Series Premiere
Tuesday September 24, 2013 at 8pm on CTV

Genre: Superhero/Paranormal

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is definitely one of, if not the, most anticipated new series this fall.  Getting an actual team of superheroes show on TV is so exciting that it's almost hard to even stand waiting.  I'm really cheering for it to be awesome, and if the trailer is any indication I think we are in for one wild ride.  And given that it deals with the 'unknown', that *technically* makes it a paranormal show!

Series Description: "Clark Gregg reprises the role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel's feature films in MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown around the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson's team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage; Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), expert pilot and martial artist; Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), brilliant engineer; and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet)."

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Clark Gregg, Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge and Chloe Bennet.

Fangasm ~ Series Premiere
Tuesday September 24, 2013 at 10pm ET on Space

Genre: Docu-Series/Non-Fiction

I'm not quite sure what to make of Fangasm, and I'm not sure if it's actually some kind of competition show or not.  But, Stan Lee (awesome) and fandom is enough to get me to watch it.  And at only 6 eps, it's going to fly by quickly.

Series Description:

"From the producer of Jersey Shore comes Fangasm – a six-part docuseries that celebrates the incredibly unique, often misunderstood, and infinitely fascinating fan girl and fan boy culture. The show follows seven pop culture-obsessed fans (whose passions range from comic books and collectibles to science fiction and fantasy) living together in an LA apartment complex and working together at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo. The seven must contend with each others oversized personalities and conflicting fandom as they vie for an opportunity to work within Lee's organization.

Because when different passions come together, you get a real big bang."

Fangasm is a 6-part docu-series.

Once Upon a Time ~ Season 3 Premiere
Sunday September 29, 2013 at 7pm on CTV

Genre: Fantasy

Once Upon a Time is a show I continue to be surprized at that I've not jumped into watch, although I know Suzie watches it.  I always love looking at the stills and I feel like I've seen it through the years with snippits and commercials along the way.  It's great to see a fantasy series doing so well, I'm thinking the early timeslot and family appeal has a lot to do with it. I don't know if I'll jump in this year, or one day wait and catch up on the whole thing.  But for the fans of the show get to start back up right at the end of the month.

Series Description: "ONCE UPON A TIME is a fairytale set in modern times. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), a 28-year-old bail bonds collector has been on her own since she was abandoned as a baby. But when the son she gave up years ago finds her, everything starts to change. Henry (Jared Gilmore) is now 10 years old and in desperate need of Emma’s help. Henry believes that Emma is the missing daughter of Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas). According to his book of fairytales, they sent her away to protect her from the Evil Queen’s curse, which trapped the fairytale world forever. Emma isn’t a believer, but when she brings Henry back to Storybrooke, she suspects his strange New England town may be more than it seems. Storybrooke is a magical place where fairytale characters are alive, frozen in time and can’t remember their true identities. To win the good vs. evil epic battle, Emma will have to accept her destiny and fight like hell."

Once Upon a Time
stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Robert Carlyle, Lana Parilla, Jared Gilmore, James Dornan and Josh Dallas.  Season 3 will consist of 22 episodes.

This weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week is for those of us who are just warming up to the whole Winter is Coming thing. Yep, I'm talking Game of Thrones. Showcase is catching us up with the series in the cable premiere of Season 2.  And for the PVR-folks, remember this runs longer than an hour so check your listings and set your timers appropriately.

Game of Thrones (Season 2)
Begins Fri Aug 30, 2013 at 10pm ET/7pm PT on Showcase

Here's a look into Season 2 of Game of Thrones:

"With tensions and treaties, animosity and alliances, Season 2 of Game of Thrones is a thrilling journey through a riveting, unforgettable fictional landscape based on George R.R. Martin's bestselling novel A Clash of Kings. In Kings Landing, the coveted Iron Throne is occupied by cruel young Joffrey (Jack Gleeson), counseled by his conniving mother Cersei (Lena Headey) and uncle Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), who has been appointed Hand of the King. But the Lannister hold on the Throne is under assault on many fronts. There's Robb Stark (Richard Madden), son of the slain Lord of Winterfell Ned Stark, who seeks autonomy in the north and has taken Cersei's brother Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) prisoner in battle; Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), looking to shore up her depleted power in the east through three newborn dragons; Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane), brother of the late king Robert, who rejects Joffrey's legitimacy and aligns with a powerful priestess to raise a naval attack; Stannis' brother Renly (Gethin Anthony), who has maintained his own claim since fleeing Kings Landing; and Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen), who was raised by the Starks, but whose blood ties in his native Iron Islands runs deep. In the meantime, a new leader is rising among the wildings outside the Wall, adding new perils for Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and the order of the Night's Watch."

Paranormal Pick of the Week: Face Off Season 5 Premiere

Face Off ~ Season 5 Premiere
Tuesday August 13, 2013 at 9pm on Space

I can't wait for Tuesday! Face Off is easily one of my favourite reality series, I love seeing the inspiration take form in the creative make up that the artist put together. This week we see the series 5 premiere with a special 1 1/2 hour episode.

Here is more about the Season 5 Premiere of Face Off: "FACE OFF returns for a fifth season of mind-blowing special effects ingenuity, offering a new group of rising SFX make-up artists the opportunity to compete and showcase their imagination and creativity. As a member of the multi-generational family dynasty whose name is synonymous with the make-up effects field, actress McKenzie Westmore (Vile) brings expertise to her role as host of the series."

The series follows cosplayers of all levels, from legend Yaya Han, to rising stars and newbies, as they make a splash at comic book conventions around the country."
  • Whodunnit Season Finale Sunday August 18, 2013 at 8pm on CTV; although not paranormal by any means, I've really enjoyed this murder-mystery reality series all season long. It will be very cool to find out in the finale Who Actually Dunnit.
  • Orphan Black Season 1 on CTV starting Friday August 16, 2013 at 9pm.  This home grown science fiction series lands a new spot for even more viewers to enjoy.

Orphan Black on CTV Starting Friday August 16, 2013

Orphan Black is coming to CTV. Whether you watched it all on it's debut run on Space or have yet to catch it, soon you will be able to see Orphan Black on CTV starting Friday, August 16 at 9pm ET.

This news is especially exciting as Tatiana Maslany just recently won the Individual Achievement in Drama category at the Television Critics Association Award for Her Role for her role(s) in Orphan Black. Her performances in the series are formidable, and it's very exciting to see her accomplishment recognized in this way. And you can see them all again with this showing of Season 1 on CTV.

If you need an Orphan Black refresher, here is a show description: "Sarah, an orphan outsider on the run from a lifetime of bad decisions, witnesses the suicide of a stranger who looks just like her. Sarah assumes her identity hoping that cleaning out the dead woman’s bank account will solve all of her problems. Instead, the street-smart chameleon is thrust headlong into a kaleidoscopic mystery. After taking on the new identity, Sarah quickly finds herself caught in the middle of a deadly conspiracy and must race to find answers. "

Paranormal Pick of the Week: Defiance Season 1 Finale

It feels like summer is just starting, but with that it's time to start wrapping up some of our shows. This week we have the final episode of Defiance Season 1 on Monday July 8, 2013. But don't worry Defiance fans, it won't be the final episode as the show has been confirmed for Season 2. But this week we are looking at the season 1 finale, which is this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week:

    Defiance ~ Series 1 Finale
Monday July 8, 2013 at 10pm on Showcase

Series Description: "Set in the near future, Defiance introduces an exotically transformed planet Earth, its landscapes permanently altered following the sudden – and tumultuous – arrival of seven unique alien races. In this somewhat unknown and unpredictable landscape, the richly diverse, newly formed civilization of humans and aliens must learn to co-exist peacefully. Each week, viewers will follow an immersive character drama set in the boom-town of Defiance, which sits atop the ruins of St. Louis, MO, while in the game, players will adventure in the new frontier of the San Francisco Bay area. The dramatic tapestry of the series and the intense action of the game will exist in a single universe where their respective narratives will inform one another and evolve together into one overall story."

Paranormal Pick of the Week: Under the Dome Series Premiere

It's so exciting to have a new science fiction show to enjoy in the summer months, especially as we lost Alphas from the roster a little unceremoniously.  But don't fret, this week starts Under the Dome, which is based on a Stephen King novel that's the size of a small town! How could they fit it into 13 eps and a bubble?  One way to find out, and that mystery makes it this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week:

    • Cult ~ Remaining episodes begin Friday June 28, 2013 on The CW from 8pm - 10pm (2 hour block). Cult being cancelled was the biggest disappointment for me this year.  The crazy-meta references, great cast (Matt Davis and Robert Knepper totally rocked the house) and bizarre, rabbit-hole(s) story line always left me wanting more. I'm thrilled The CW will be airing the final episodes of the season.  **ADDITIONAL INFO: On the Canadian TV Schedule, the remaining episodes of Cult appear to be airing one at a time weekly on Sundays at 7pm ET on CTV2 starting June 30, 2013 (Added June 30, 2013).

Paranormal Pick of the Week: 666 Park Avenue Burns Off Begins on ABC

After some finales and premieres, we've hit a bit of a quiet time for summer TV (but it won't last!), and one good thing about that is we are seeing some of our cancelled shows come back for their burn offs!  I'm really excited to see that we will see the end of many of them, and this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week is the return of 666 Park Avenue.  They left us on quite a cliffhanger, so I hope there is a good 'previously on' recap!

666 Park Avenue ~ Remaining Episodes Begin
Saturday June 22, 2013 at 9pm ET on ABC

The slow burn supernatural drama set in a apartment building/once hotel was a big surprize win for us this year, although sadly it seems like it took a little too long to get people hooked and therefore was cancelled.  So far, I haven't seen the burn offs being aired on a Canadian station, so make sure to watch/set PVR's and such on ABC for the show final episodes.

    • Whodunnit - Series Premiere Sunday June 23, 2013 at 9pm ET on CTV and ABC; hosted by Gildart Jackson this reality competition show takes 13 guests of a murder mystery to a new level. The series is described as: "Guests will use a variety of crime scene investigation techniques to meticulously uncover evidence in a series of puzzling murders and to ultimately reveal who among them is the killer. Some guests will form partnerships in the competition, while others will choose to go it alone in their quest for the reward of $250,000. The guests will reside on a glamorous estate called Rue Manor with a steward, Butler Giles (Gildart Jackson), and each week must solve a new crime in order to advance in the game. Failure to solve the crime will lead to a guest’s demise, until only three are left. In the final episode, one guest will unmask the killer and take home the $250,000 reward " Sounds interested to me!

I feel like we just went down the rabbit hole of Orphan Black goodness, and now Season 1 is already at finale time! This amazing series starring Tatiana Maslany in multiple roles including Sarah, Beth, Helena, Cosima and Alison (at the very least) and honestly, she's so good that at times I forget it's all 1 person! If you haven't had a chance to watch the show yet, Space is airing the entire series on Saturday marathon-style up to the season 1 finale. It's a lot darker than I expected going in, but it's very well done and it easily makes the grade to be this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week:

Time just got away from me, but this UK conspiracy-thriller following "unconnected people who find themselves in possession of The Utopia Experiments, a legendary graphic novel shrouded in mystery" really sounds awesome to me. Good thing it's been picked up for a second series, and maybe I'll catch up on the second time around!
