Ep 148: Paranormal TV Nov 19 - 25, 2013

On this weeks episode of Hexed, we chat about the explosive Season 2 finale of Ghost Mine, and chat up with recent episodes of Paranormal Witness, Lost Girl, Haven, Walking Dead and The Vampire Diaries. 

We might be a little grumpy over some things as we acknowledge the boringness of being the season of amnesia as well as the 4th year blahs in several shows, but we do still have lively discussions on some of the newer shows as we catch up on Ravenswood, Reign and Almost Human.

Paranormal Pick of the Week: Ghost Mine Season 2 Finale

Season 2 of Ghost Mine yielded twice the episodes of Season 1 but it still came to an end way to quickly, and this week we'll be seeing the 12th and final episode of Season 2. I can't think of a better choice for this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week:

It's be an extremely active season of Ghost Mine and from shadow figures to Tesla coils to even practical jokes!  I have enjoyed every minute of it. I have to say, it feels a bit weird to ramp-up for a mid-season finale for a show that only has 10 episodes, but I feel like this means this episode will be super-crazy. After the mid-season finale, Ravenswood will return on January 7, 2014.
• The Day of the Doctor - Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special , Saturday November 23, 2013 at 2:50PM ET on Space. I know many people are super excited for this special, and if you want to see it on the big screen you can! The Day of the Doctor will also screen in 3D in Theatres on Saturday November 23, 2013 and again on Monday November 25, 2013. For ticket information, chick here.

Suzie and Shannon are back this week and we are thrilled to share our thoughts on awesome episodes of Supernatural, The Walking Dead, Ghost Mine, Face Off, Fangasm and of course the return of Grimm! Poll Results: What October Start Shows Are You Watching?

As we near the end of the month, it's time to look back at our poll for Poll Results: What October Start Shows Are You Watching? One of our most talked about shows ends up winning the poll and that is Supernatural Season 9 with a whopping 40%! It was followed closely by The Witches of East End and Arrow which got 36% and Grimm and Vampire Diaries at 32%. Over all, it looks like lots of us are watching a huge chunk of the October shows. We see a lot of Dracula films over the years, but a Dracula series is a new spin and I'm so looking forward to it as it's a reimagining of the Bram Stoker novel. This British/US co-production stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jessica De Gouw, Katie McGrath, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Nonso Anozie, Victoria Smurfit, Michael Nardone and Thomas Kretschmann; Dracula is scheduled to have 10 episodes.

Ravenswood Has Found A Canadian Home on M3

We finally have news of where the new series Ravenswood will be airing here in Canada: M3. Not ringing a bell? It's the re-branded Much More Music. M3 also has tons in store for us including simulcasting Vampire Diaries on Thursday nights, airing the new series Reign and a Friday night line up of Supernatural, Arrow and True Blood (Season 5). I think it's a channel that's right up our alley here at Hexed: Sisterhood of the Supernatural.



But let's get back to Ravenswood. Here are the details about the series premiere:

Believe it or not, I couldn't find a series description of Season 9. Considering ti's a bread and butter show here at Hexed, you probably know it follows Sam and Dean Winchester, brothers who hunt supernatural creatures and have literally been to hell and back (literally).

Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins; Season 9 is scheduled for 23 episodes.

The Tomorrow People ~ Series Premiere

The Tomorrow People is a US revival of a British TV show from the 1970's; this new version stars Robbie Amell, Luke Mitchell, Peyton List, Aaron Yoo, Madeleine Mantock and Mark Pellegrino.

Arrow ~ Season 2 Premiere

American Horror Story: Coven (Season 3) Premiere

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland ~ Series Premiere

The Walking Dead ~ Season 4 Premiere

The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Scott Wilson, Melissa McBride, David Morrissey, Emily Kinney, Danai Gurira, Chad Coleman and Sonequa Martin-Green.

Season 4 of The Walking Dead will have a total of 16 episodes, but they will air in 2 sets of 8 episodes: the first set starts Sunday October 13, 2013 and the second set will return in February 2014.

Falling Skies - Season 2 Premiere

After really enjoying the first season, I'm excited to share that we are finally getting Season 2 of Falling Skies thanks to Space. This is one of the few shows that there is a huge delay in the US airing versus when we get it here, but the wait is almost over

Series 2 description: "Season 2 opens with Pope (Colin Cunningham, STARGATE SG-1) seizing command of a renegade contingent within the 2nd Mass unit. Meanwhile, Tom (Noah Wyle, ER) suddenly returns to the group but his loyalty comes into question; Hal (Drew Roy, Secretariat) and Ben (Connor Jessup, Blackbird) drift apart."

Alien Mysteries - Series Premiere

This one feels like the format of Paranormal Witness, but with alien encounters.  It's been a while since we've had a new non-fiction series so you can be certain we'll be checking this one out!

Series description: "This imaginative Canadian series candidly chronicles first-person accounts of UFO sightings, alien encounters, and abductions. In each episode, dramatic re-enactments recount stunning real-life, unexplained alien experiences, taking viewers on a thrilling and sometimes terrifying journey. Ravenswood ~ Series Premiere

Genre: Mystery/Thriller

Series description: "Ravenswood will center on a town, not far from Rosewood, PA (the home base of Pretty Little Liars), which has suffered under a deadly curse for generations. Five strangers suddenly find themselves connected by this fatal curse and need to dig into the town's mysterious and terrible history before it's too late for each of them."

Ravenswood is a spin-off of Pretty Little Liars and will premiere in the States on ABC Family and M3 here in Canada following the annual Pretty Little Liars Halloween episode. Ravenswood stars Pretty Little Liars alum Tyler Blackburn as well as Nicole Anderson, Britne Oldford, Brett Dier, Merritt Patterson and Steven Cabral.

Grimm ~ Season 3 Premiere

Oddly we don't have much information on Season 3 as of yet but maybe the mystery of that is a good thing, as Season 2 certainly left us hanging! Here is a series description if we have new folks wanting to jump aboard the awesomeness of Grimm:

Ep 139 Paranormal TV Sept 11-16, 2013

• The new Fall TV Shows have officially begun! This week Suzie and Shannon kick things off with chatting up the new supernatural drama Sleepy Hollow, plus check in on our regs of Ghost Mine, Almighty Johnsons, Face Off, Paranormal Witness and the penultimate episode of Heroes of Cosplay which has totally won us over this season.
• Suzie also shares her experience being a romantic zombie during the Halifax Zombie Walk (awesome way to celebrate her and her honey's wedding anniversary!). We also chat a fair amount of news including discussing the new Global Go app/service for cable subscribers.
• We'll be back next week with the regs and we might even get a chance to chat the Season 2 premiere of The Neighbors.
