Over the past weekend it was announced when we'll be seeing the premiere of Bitten: Saturday January 11, 2014 at 9pm ET on Space. The TV series is based on the book Bitten, from the rabidly successful Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong.
Here is more information about what we can expected from the series and first of the 13-episode season from a press release:
"In BITTEN, werewolves are monitored by The Pack, a powerful, organized family based in the grand manor of Stonehaven, their ancestral home. In the premiere episode entitled “Summons” (Saturday, Jan. 11 at 9 p.m. ET on Space), viewers are introduced to the town of Bear Valley in upstate New York and The Pack family, to which Elena used to belong after being bitten by her boyfriend Clayton (Holt). With that one small bite, Elena was forced to live as a werewolf. Still craving the normal life she lost, Elena flees to Toronto and hides her secret from her boyfriend, Phillip (Greene). However, she is pulled back into her former world when the discovery of a mauled girl catapults an all-out war against a group of rogue Mutts (non-Pack werewolves) whose aim is to destroy The Pack."
For more information about the series premiere including character bios for Elana, Clay, Jeremy, Philip, Logan and Nick check out the full press release here.
It's hard to believe we still have new shows popping in November! Doing some research today I noticed that the new series Almost Human which starts tonight, Sunday November 17, 2013 at 8pm ET/PT on Global, will regularly air on Mondays at 8pm - and in fact tomorrow is a new episode! That's right. Tonight is the series premiere, and tomorrow is episode 2 and from there it will air Monday Nights at 8pm.
Remember to set your PVRs, Tivo's or sit down and watch it - for two nights in a row!
Almost Human ~ Series Premiere
Premiere: Sunday November 17, 2013 at 8pm ET/PT on Global
Regular Night: Mondays at 8pm starting on Monday November 18, 2013
Need a reminder on what Almost Human is all about? Here is a Series Description:
"In this action-adventure series from executive producers J.J. Abrams (Lost) and J.H. Wyman (Fringe) set in 2048, a cop teams up with a second-hand synthetic android to fight a strain of urban crime that has evolved in even more frightening ways. Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban, The Bourne Supremacy) survived a catastrophic attack on the city's police department that cost him his friends, one of his limbs and his reputation. When he returns a year later, he finds the transition difficult. Not only does one of the surviving detectives, Richard Paul (Michael Irby, Flight Plan) blame him for the lethal ambush, but department policy now requires that every cop be paired with a highly-evolved human-like android partner. Instead, Kennex works with lab technician Rudy Lom (MacKenzie Crook, Game of Thrones) to reinstate an outdated Dorian android (Michael Ealy, The Good Wife) whose somewhat dysfunctional platform is based on a "Synthetic Soul" program, allowing it to have emotional responses. Together, the two set out to keep the city safe and uncover the criminal conspiracy that threatens to destroy their world."
Almost Human stars Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, Mackenzie Crook, Michael Irby, Minka Kelly and Lili Taylor.

After a few weeks of being barraged with new shows, this week things get a little lighter but definitely otherworldly and worth mentioning including this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week of Alien Mysteries on Space.
Alien Mysteries - Series Premiere
Monday October 14, 2013 at 10pm on Space
We are very curious about this show, which feels like the format of Paranormal Witness, but with alien encounters. It's been a while since we've had a new non-fiction series so you can be certain we'll be checking this one out!
Here is the series description: "This imaginative Canadian series candidly chronicles first-person accounts of UFO sightings, alien encounters, and abductions. In each episode, dramatic re-enactments recount stunning real-life, unexplained alien experiences, taking viewers on a thrilling and sometimes terrifying journey. Their bizarre, life-altering encounters are vividly depicted using new, state-of-the-art CGI and green screen technique created by Toronto-based Acme Digital Pictures. Each story also features scientists and researchers who probe the question: How is this possible?"
Falling Skies Season 2 Premiere Monday October 14, 2013 at 9pm on Space; I was more of a fan of this one than Suzie and we are oodles behind the US airing (which has already had Season 3) but I'm still looking forward to seeing where the story goes.
Reign Series Premiere Wednesday Oct 16, 2013 at 8pm on M3 (and Thur Oct 17, 2013 at 9pm on The CW). Certainly not paranormal, but we've mentioned the period show Reign a few times on the podcast so if you are curious about it now is the time to check it out.
We finally have news of where the new series Ravenswood will be airing here in Canada: M3. Not ringing a bell? It's the re-branded Much More Music. M3 also has tons in store for us including simulcasting Vampire Diaries on Thursday nights, airing the new series Reign and a Friday night line up of Supernatural, Arrow and True Blood (Season 5). I think it's a channel that's right up our alley here at Hexed: Sisterhood of the Supernatural.
Ravenswood ~ Series Premiere
Tuesday October 22, 2013 at 9pm ET / 6pm PT on M3
Series Description: "A spin-off series of the top-rated drama thriller Pretty Little Liars, RAVENSWOOD is an original one-hour drama which centers on a town not far from Rosewood, Pennsylvania (the fictional town where Pretty Little Liars takes place), which has suffered under a deadly curse for generations. Five strangers suddenly find themselves connected by this fatal curse and need to dig into the town's mysterious and terrible history, before it's too late for each of them."
"In the premiere episode of ATLANTIS, when Jason embarks on a search for his father, he finds himself washed up on the shores of a mysterious land filled with mythical creatures, soothsaying oracles, and palaces so vast it is said they were built by giants. While magical and wondrous, Jason has stumbled on this land at the wrong time and soon finds himself at the mercy of a deadly ritual from which there can be no escape.
ATLANTIS’ ensemble cast also includes Jemima Rooper (HEX) as Medusa, Juliet Stevenson (THE HOUR) as The Oracle, Sarah Parish (MERLIN) as Pasiphaë, and Aiysha Hart (About Time) as Ariadne.

Atlantis premieres Saturday, October 12 at 8pm ET on Space
This week we official begin the Fall TV season and that means both new and returning shows to enjoy, as well as the finishing up of a few summer faves. But I'm sticking new in the spotlight, and although it's not definite how (or if) this one will be paranormal it still is this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week:
Sleepy Hollow ~ Series Premiere
Monday Sept 16, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on Global
This one looks like a blend of mystery and historical, and it's definitely got a spooky atmosphere going on. I've very curious about it and really look forward to checking out the premiere. I've kept the story of this one under wraps a bit, but if you want to know more here is a series description: "This thrilling new action-adventure drama is a modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic tale. Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison, Parade's End) is resurrected and pulled two-and-a-half centuries through time to find that the world is on the brink of destruction, and that he is humanity’s last hope, forcing him to team up with a contemporary police officer (Nicole Beharie, 42) to unravel a mystery which dates all the way back to the founding fathers."
Sleepy Hollow stars Nicole Beharie, John Cho, Orlando Jones, Tom Mison and Katia Winter.
The Neighbors Season 2 Premiere Friday Sept 20, 2013 at 8:30 on CTV; We were late adopters to this aliens-among-us science fiction comedy series, but totally loved it once we jumped aboard. The Series 1 finale is at 8pm in case you need to catch up a bit.
Under the Dome Season 1 Finale Monday Sept 16, 2013 at 10pm on Global; We didn't talk of follow this series too much but it certainly has a lot of viewers, so it only seemed fair to share the upcoming finale.
Doctor Who Sundays on Space continue with Sunday Sept 22, 2013 staring at 10am. This week it's time to bridge Season 2 and 3 with the following: "Wrap up season 2 of DOCTOR WHO with Episodes 7 to 13. Then, get in the Christmas spirit with the DOCTOR WHO special THE RUNAWAY BRIDE, followed by the first two episodes of season 3."
Heroes of Cosplay Finale Tuesday Sept 17, 2013 at 10pm on Space; Boy did they leave use hanging last week! I had no idea it was going to be a 2-parter but that makes it all the more exciting to get to see how this shows sums up. If you've yet to check out the series you can watch the whole thing marathon style Sunday Sept 22, 2013 on Space starting at 11:30pm.
A new show starts on Space tonight, and it's got a title that says it all: Joe Rogan Questions Everything
Wednesday July 24, 2013 at 9pm on Space
Series Description tells us more: "After exploring these mysteries for years on his popular podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Rogan now takes his inquisitive nature on the road, crisscrossing America and knocking on any door necessary to uncover the truth behind “hush-hush” and bizarre beliefs that have obsessed portions of the public for generations.
In the premiere episode, “Bigfoot Human Hybrid,” (July 24 at 10 p.m. ET) Rogan’s lifelong quest to find Bigfoot sends him crashing through forests in the Pacific Northwest. As he follows the trail of evidence, he finds strange new facts at every turn. Seeking answers, Rogan speaks with eyewitnesses who claim to live with the Sasquatch, and a former military man who can decipher strange audio recordings theorized to be Bigfoot. "
Here is a bit more about the show: " In each of the six, one-hour episodes, Rogan puts his life on the line as he goes beyond the limits to uncover the truth behind the biggest myths. Mysteries and theories explored this season include the legend of Bigfoot, the afterlife, psychic soldiers, and of course, aliens. Rogan also investigates killer man-made viruses, and examines the underbelly of robot revolution and cyborgs."
I'm very curious about Joe Rogan Questions Everything, especially as he is a podcaster as well (although iTunes lists the podcast as comedy). It's so awesome to have new non-fiction paranormal shows in the summer. Bring it on!
It's so exciting to have a new science fiction show to enjoy in the summer months, especially as we lost Alphas from the roster a little unceremoniously. But don't fret, this week starts Under the Dome, which is based on a Stephen King novel that's the size of a small town! How could they fit it into 13 eps and a bubble? One way to find out, and that mystery makes it this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week:
Under the Dome ~ Series Premiere
Monday June 24, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT on Global
Here is a description of Under the Dome:"Based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel, Under the Dome is the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome."
Under the Dome is an American science fiction series based on the novel Under the Dome by Stephen King. The premiere season scheduled for 13 episodes and the cast includes Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Colin Ford, Natalie Martinez, Alexander Koch, Britt Robertson, Nicholas Strong, Jolene Purdy, Aisha Hinds and Dean Norris.
Cult ~ Remaining episodes beginFriday June 28, 2013 on The CW from 8pm - 10pm (2 hour block). Cult being cancelled was the biggest disappointment for me this year. The crazy-meta references, great cast (Matt Davis and Robert Knepper totally rocked the house) and bizarre, rabbit-hole(s) story line always left me wanting more. I'm thrilled The CW will be airing the final episodes of the season. **ADDITIONAL INFO: On the Canadian TV Schedule, the remaining episodes of Cultappear to be airing one at a time weekly on Sundays at 7pm ET on CTV2 starting June 30, 2013 (Added June 30, 2013).
Saving Hope Season 2 Premieres Tuesday June 25, 2013 at 10pm on CTV
Marathon Madness on Space over the July 1st weekend: Paranormal Witness, Utopia, In The Flesh all have marathons over the holiday weekend. Check your local listings for all the deets.
Image: Luke Newberry as Kieran Walker in In The Flesh
May is certainly a quieter month for new and returning shows as it's more of finale month as well as the time when the Big 5 US broadcasters announce their Fall Line Ups time. Even so, we aren't starved for new content and certainly aren't as starved as the folks in our one new series, the zombies from In the Flesh which debuts on Space this month.
I wish I had more to share for new shows, but that's all I have for now. I'll be sure to update this post if any additional series crop up.
In the Flesh ~ Series Premiere

Each week, viewers will follow an immersive character drama set in the boom-town of Defiance, which sits atop the ruins of St. Louis, MO, while in the game, players will adventure in the new frontier of the San Francisco Bay area. The dramatic tapestry of the series and the intense action of the game will exist in a single universe where their respective narratives will inform one another and evolve together into one overall story."

Continuum ~ Season 2 Premiere
Sunday April 21, 2013 at 9pm on Showcase
Suzie and I really enjoyed watching and podcasting through Continuum's first season last summer. It is so cool to see a Canadian-produced, Canadian-set awesome science fiction series. And with a female lead who kicks butt to boot. The show has a great science fiction angle with time travel as well as the power of subtle social skills and even some political commentary. Plus, it's smart and a lot of fun. I'm very curious to see where things go in Season 2. If you need to catch up with Season 1? I've created a spoiler-free episode list to all of the Season 1 episodes that you can watch online at Showcase.ca and Continuumtheseries.com.
Hemlock Grove begins on Netflix (all territories) this Friday April 19, 2013. I'm really curious to see this one in and experience the Netflix format. Find out more about Hemlock Grove at Netflix.com.
Cast of Hannibal: Hugh Dancy, Caroline Dhavernas, Laurence Fishburne, Aaron Abrams, Lara Jean Chorostecki, Hettienne Park, Scott Thompson and Mads Mikkelsen (Image Source)
April is a pretty impressive month for new and returning shows. Showcase will be bringing us not one but two science fiction shows with the debut of the multi-platformed Defiance show and online game plus we will also enter into the second season of the Vancouver set Continuum.
The innovation theme continues with Hemlock Grove which is a Netflix original series that will debut concurrently across the globe to all territories where Netflix is available. To start the month off we break with pattern as I included a horror/thriller series with the debut of Hannibal starring Mads Mikkelsen (Valhalla Rising) and Hugh Dancy (Blood and Chocolate). Let's hear it for April 2013!
Hannibal ~ Series Premiere
Thursday April 4, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT on CityTV
Genre: Horror/Thriller
Okay, I'm kind of cheating including Hannibal with our April shows, but horror isn't too far off and last month we included Bates Motel which is similar in nature to Hannibal as both are prequels of horrific stories. Besides, I'm completely thrilled to see the magnificent Mads Mikkelsen and the wonderful Hugh Dancy on TV that I will break my "no serial killers show" rule to check this one out.
Series Description: "Will Graham is a gifted criminal profiler who is on the hunt for a serial killer with the FBI. Graham’s unique way of thinking gives him the astonishing ability to empathize with anyone – even psychopaths. He seems to know what makes them tick. But when the mind of the twisted killer he’s pursuing is too complicated for even Will to comprehend, he enlists the help of Dr. Lecter, one of the premier psychiatric minds in the country. Armed with the uncanny expertise of the brilliant doctor, Will and Hannibal (known as a serial killer only to the audience) form a brilliant partnership and it seems there’s no villain they can’t catch. If Will only knew…"
Hannibal is an American series and season 1 will have 13 episodes; the show stars Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, Caroline Dhavernas and Laurence Fishburne.
Defiance ~ Series Premiere
Monday April 15, 2013 at 10pm on Showcase
Genre: Science Fiction
I'm still mystified by the whole game and show part of Defiance, and I don't think I'll 'get' that until I seen and/or experience it. Putting that to the side, I'm so excited to see an actual science fiction series with aliens! Doesn't if feel like forever since we've had that? The show looks slick, the make up and design look amazing and I'm a fan of several of the actors. I can't wait! Thank goodness this happens after Monday nights free up after the Being Human (North American) and Almighty Johnsons wrap up for their respective seasons.
Series Description: "An unprecedented approach to storytelling, Defiance will unite scripted television and online gaming for the very first time. Both the series and the game feature an interconnected world and storylines that will launch in early April with the release of the game and continue seamlessly with the series premiere on the 15th.
Set in the near future, Defiance introduces an exotically transformed planet Earth, its landscapes permanently altered following the sudden – and tumultuous – arrival of seven unique alien races. In this somewhat unknown and unpredictable landscape, the richly diverse, newly formed civilization of humans and aliens must learn to co-exist peacefully.
Defiance is a Canadian/US co-production of 13 episodes and stars Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran, Jaime Murray, Graham Greene and Mia Kirshner.
Hemlock Grove ~ Series Premiere
Friday April 19, 2013 on Netflix
Genre: Paranormal/Horror/Thriller
When I first heard about Hemlock Grove it was described as Twin Peaks meets Supernatural, and right then and there I knew I had to check it out. I'm also very curious about the whole airing on Netflix thing, and as a very recent Netflix-er I'm thrilled I will be able to see it! I love that it's debuting concurrently in all territories that Netflix is available including U.S., Canada, the UK, Ireland, Latin America, Brazil and Scandinavia. That's awesome. That's so where we are now, being broadcasted at the same time is the best choice for the viewers. We want to see it, and you give us a way *to* see it. Yay!
Series Description: "After a teenage girl is mauled to death on the outskirts of Hemlock Grove, dark secrets and deep passions emerge. As authorities seek the killer, two suspects from rival families take matters into their own hands. Will they find a man or a monster?"
Hemlock Grove is an American series based on the book by Brian McGreevy and stars Famke Janssen, Bill Skarsgård, Landon Liboiron, Penelope Mitchell, Freya Tingley, Dougray Scott, Lili Taylor and Nicole Boivin. It looks like it's 12 episodes (per IMDB).
Continuum ~ Season 2 Premiere
Sunday April 21, 2013 at 9pm on Showcase
Genre: Science Fiction
Suzie and I really enjoyed watching and podcasting through Continuum's first season last summer. It is so cool to see a Canadian-produced, Canadian-set awesome science fiction series. And with a female lead who kicks butt to boot. The show has a great science fiction angle with time travel as well as the power of subtle social skills and even some political commentary. Plus, it's smart and a lot of fun. I'm very curious to see where things go in Season 2.
Series Description: "Continuum is a one-hour police drama centered on Kiera Cameron, a regular cop from 65 years in the future who finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver. She is alone, a stranger in a strange land, and has eight of the most ruthless criminals from the future, known as Liber8, loose in the city."
Continuum is a Canadian series which stars Rachel Nichols, Erik Knudsen, Victor Webster, Stephen Lobo, Jennifer Spence and Tony Amendola; Season 2 will have 13 episodes.
Utopia - Series Premiere
Thursday April 25, 2013at 10pm ET on Space
Genre: Conspiracy/Mystery
This announcement just popped up so we've added it to the mix for April release goodness, it's a 6-part conspiracy thriller/mystery series starring Paul Higgins, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Alexandra Roach, Neil Maskell, Paul Ready, James Fox Geraldine James, Simon McBurney, Michael Smiley and Fiona O'Shaughnessy.
Here's information the show media release: "In Episode 1 of UTOPIA, five strangers from an online comic book forum agree to meet after gaining possession of The Utopia Experiments. While three of the forum members – Ian (Stewart-Jarrett), Becky (Roach), and Wilson (Adeel Akhtar, The Dictator) meet at a pub, another is confronted and attacked by two Network henchmen. The only witness to the attack is 11-year-old Grant (Oliver Woolford, Blackout), the fifth forum member, and when he flees with the manuscript, the henchmen chase after him."
And great news, Utopia is already commissioned for a second season. Woohoo!
I'm so excited after waiting and waiting and waiting we will finally get to see the series premiere of Orphan Black, a science fiction series with a mysterious (and possibly conspiracy) edge which begins airing this Saturday March 30, 2013 on Space. It's a shoe-in by a landslide for this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week.
Orphan Black ~ Series Premiere
Saturday March 30, 2013 at 9pm ET on Space
We've been keeping tabs on Orphan Black since the series since it was first announced in fall 2012, as it has a fascinating premise and awesome casting made it a perfect selection to chat about there at Hexed.; Here is the scoop on the show from a media release:
"What happens when one day you realize you’re not alone, and there are people out there who look just like you? SPACE announced today that its highly anticipated new Original Series ORPHAN BLACK will premiere Saturday, March 30 at 9 p.m. ET, following the return of SPACE’s #1 series, and fan favourite, DOCTOR WHO at 8 p.m. ET. Sarah quickly finds herself caught in the middle of a deadly conspiracy, racing to find answers."
Doctor Who - Season 7 Returns Saturday March 30, 2013 on Space, this one feels more like a new start to me but it's apparently a continuation. Here are more of the details about the 8 episodes to round out Season 7: "The Doctor is back in a fantastic adventure written by the show’s lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat. The episode - the first in a run of 8 - is directed by Colm McCarthy whose previous credits include Hustle, Spooks and Endeavour. See more about Doctor Who at Space.ca.
Revolution Season 1 Returns Monday March 25, 2013 on CityTV. The ratings for Revolution where definitely on the impressive side of things for this post apocalyptic/flashback heavy action/revolutionary series starring Tracy Spiridakos, Billy Burke and Giancarlo Esposito. If you've been anxiously awaiting, than you'll be very happy to see the show coming back tonight! See more about Revolution at CityTV.com
Game of Thrones Season 3 Premiere Sunday March 31, 2013 on HBO Canada; this fantasy series based on the George R.R. Martin series has really taken people by storm. I'm way behind on this one. WAY BEHIND. I would love to catch up. And for those caught up I'm srue they will be tuning inot to see how the story continues to unfold. See more about Game of Thrones at HBO Canada.
We still don't know how paranormal Bates Motel (or if it even will be...), but the eerie feel and great casting makes this Psycho prequel series is enough bait to hook us as the Paranormal Pick of the Week:

Rachel Nichols as Kiera Cameron in Continuum (Image Source)
That's right folks, it's time to share when the science fiction Vancouver-set (future and present!) series Continuum is coming back for Season 2: Sunday April 21, 2013 (9pm ET/PT) on Showcase.
It was just recently announced from Rachel Nichols herself in a video (see below) the start date of Continuum is just month when we will start the journey through the 13-episodes of Season 2.
Here is more about Continuum and the Season 2 Premiere: "Debuting to over 1 million viewers (2+)*, the first season of the critically acclaimed series saw Kiera Cameron (Nichols) searching for convicted terrorists from the future, known as Liber8, with the help of Vancouver detective, Carlos Fonnegra (Victor Webster; Castle). In search for answers, the highly anticipated sophomore season continues Kiera’s uneasy alliance with Detective Carlos Fonnegra, and sees her grapple with the big question that closed the first season – why was she sent there? While Alec struggles to understand the implications of the mysterious message he received from his future self, the Liber8 terrorists become more strategic and even more lethal as they seek to ward off what they see as the seeds of a disastrous future.
Rounding out the cast are Stephen Lobo (Smallville, Little Mosque On The Prairie), Roger Cross (Fringe, Arrow), Lexa Doig (V, Stargate SG-I), Omari Newton (Blue Mountain State, Sophie) and Luvia Petersen (The L Word)."
I'm really looking forward to the return of Continuum and Suzie & I really enjoyed season 1 when it aired last summer, and we podcasted through it's entire season. If you need to catch up on Season 1 you can watch all 10 episodes over at the shows website Continuumtheseries.com and at Showcase.ca, and as of March 26, 2013 Continuum will be released on DVD and BluRay.
March brings us 3 new series and 3+ returning series, which I think is quite fitting for the third month of the year, and almost all are going crazy with the 3's in there start dates: Vikings (03.03.13), Game of Thrones Season 3 (03.03.13) and both Orphan Black and Doctor Who start on 03.30.13! This month also has us seeing the debut of The Bates Motel, a prequel series to Psycho (anyone who hasn't see Psycho be care of the series description below). Last up, but certainly not least is the highly anticipated return of Grimm and it's been *way* too long since we've had new episodes I can't wait to see a new ep!

In the meantime, a new leader is rising among the wildings outside the Wall, adding new perils for Jon Snow and the order of the Night's Watch.
