Hexed Sisterhood Of The Supernatural Podcast Reunion

One more time!!! From 2010 to February 24, 2014 Shannon and I did 152 podcast episodes of Hexed: Sisterhood of the Supernatural, a podcast about Supernatural television TV from a magic-oriented perspective. We watched EVERYTHING during that time period! If you hang out with us you will find out what inspired us to do a podcast all those years ago, the shows we talked about back then, shows that are on now (what fun!) and how we felt about the television show Supernatural with the Winchester brothers coming to an end.

You will hear us reminisce fondly over the good and challenging times we did Hexed and why it finally came to an end. Lots of laughter and even tears on my part (I had to be a badass and be true to how hard this all was for me) as we talk about supernatural TV for a podcast one last time. Here is the breakdown of the episode:

Ep 152: Farewell from Hexed

Hello Hexed Listeners,

We've had a blast sharing supernatural TV with you throughout the years, but it's time for the last hurrah. Since February 2010 we've published over 150 shows and chatted for hours at length on everything from Vampire Diaries & Supernatural to Fact or Faked & Face Off to Sleepy Hollow & Heroes of Cosplay.

It's been wonderful to share all of this with you, but it's time for us to bid farewell to the show. With the loss of our mother last year the paranormal takes on a different meaning, and with personal changes on the horizon the time has come to put the show to rest as we cherish the memories it has brought us, and hopefully you too.

We've had so much fun over the years connecting with listeners over the years, and would love to keep in touch. We still love TV, and are quite happy to talk about it with you. Here are some of the places you can find us online:

Shannon, Suzie and our sister Jamie can be found at: stART: Creating As We Go; our creativity podcast and YouTube Channel.

12 Days of SPACE-MAS 2013

.

It's TIME! The snow is start to piling, the tree is twinkling and there are lots of presents to wrap, cookies to bake (and eat) and 12 whole days of awesome programming on Space to celebrate the 12 Days of SPACE-MAS!  From December 21 - January 5, 2014 it's going to be marathon and movie mayhem, in the best possible way.

I'm partial to the Face Off SERIES Marathon. That's right: all 5 seasons of Face Off will be shown from Dec 26 - 29, 2013. That's a lot of make up challenges to enjoy. We also have the Orphan Black marathon which is particularly excellent for anyone who missed it the first time round. Of course there is the annual Christmas with the Doctor including the Doctor Who Christmas Special. Plus lots and lots of movies.

Let's look at the entire schedule.  Fire up your sonic screwdriver and let the butterbeer roll!

for the
2013 DOCTOR WHO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

This years SPACE-MAS keeps getting crazier. We always tried to avoid spoilers (and please see massive spoiler warning above), but it feels like common knowledge that this years Doctor Who Christmas Special will see a passing of the Tardis from actor Matt Smith's Doctor to a new face. Before the next regeneration, a special farewell to Matt Smith will air on Space, looking at the actor who won many hearts in the recent series of the show.

This one-hour retrospective documentary pays tribute to the beloved Eleventh Doctor from Seasons 5, 6, and 7 of Doctor Who. To make way for the Mr. Smith lovefest, the previously announced Christmas special, THE TIME OF THE DOCTOR, moves to 9 p.m. ET, airing immediately following the farewell."

Close Encounters: New Series Comes to Discovery January 10, 2014

It's always exciting to hear about new non-fiction paranormal TV, and Close Encounters definitely fits that bill as it explores unsolved UFO sightings. I can't wait!  Good thing we don't have to wait long:

Close Encounters - Series Premiere
Friday January 10, 2014 at 10 & 10:30 pm ET/ 7 & 7:30PM PT on Discovery

Here is a series description:

"Weird weather patterns, flight schedules, and extraordinary imagination – ultimately, of the thousands of “UFO sightings” that are reported each year around the globe, most can be explained and attributed to normal, Earthly phenomena. But those cases that can’t be solved – even decades later -- puzzle police investigators, government officials, researchers, and even medical communities. Premiering on Discovery with back-to-back episodes on Friday, January 10 at 10 and 10:30 p.m. ET/7 and 7:30 p.m. PT, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS explores the most intriguing and convincing UFO stories on the planet. An original Canadian production from Toronto’s Newroad Media, the 13-part series examines two stories in each episode, combining dramatic recreations, CGI, and dynamic expert interviews, to illuminate the most mystifying sightings from around the world – from Alberta to Australia, and from Texas to Tehran!"

Sounds pretty awesome to me! The show even offers for people to share their own stories on Twitter @EncountersTV (#CloseEncounters).

See more about Close Encounters at Discovery.ca and on Facebook.

The Almighty Johnsons Are Complete

ONLY READ IMAGE
if you have
SEEN ALL 3 SEASONS of THE ALMIGHTY JOHNSONS

It's a little strange when you hear about the end of a series from a picture posted on Facebook, but alas all things change and all shows eventually end.

Although I'm really sad to hear that The Almighty Johnsons is coming to a close, I am very happy with how they went out. The Almighty Johnsons was one of my favourite shows of recent years, combining brilliant writing in both it's creative interpretation of mythology *and* witty comedy, and then there is the spectacular cast who brought it to life.

I look forward to (and hope we get) a DVD release of The Almighty Johnsons before it sails away to Valhalla!

Paranormal Picks of the Week: Finale Madness on Space

Image: Jael de Pardo and Devin Marble in Haunted Highway

The silly season is upon us and before we get into the land of marathons and specials and...well, reruns, we have som finales to keep us busy. We have not one, not two, but THREE finales this week to share from non-fiction to (fictional) aliens, and all on Space. Let's have a look at the three-way-tie for this weeks Paranormal Picks of the Week:

Falling Skies - Season 2 Finale
Monday December 16, 2013 at 9pm ET on Space

I sadly didn't get to see this second season of Falling Skies, although I really loved the show.  But I did find a refresher of Season 2 for for ya: "Falling Skies opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few remaining survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival for these citizen soldiers against the occupying alien force, whose nature and purpose remains a mystery."

Haunted Highway - Season 2 Finale
Wednesday December 18, 2013 at 9pm ET on Space

It's been so much fun to have Haunted Highway back for it's second season, and so great to see Jack, Dana, Devin & Jael back on the tracks of all kinds of legends and paranormal mysteries.  It's gone by so quickly, but even so I'm enjoyed every episode.

Killer Contact - Season 1 Finale
Wednesday December 18, 2013 at 10pm - 12midnight ET on Space

I know it feels like Killer Contact just debuted (which is TRUE!), but with the doubling and tripling up of episodes that means 3 weeks in we are already at the finale of this 6-episode season. Suzie and I discussed the series premiere on last weeks episode of Hexed, and I'm curious to see more although I'm still waiting for them to pop up online at the Space website. Here's hoping they will!
