Hey Folks,

If you, like me, anxiously were awaiting the airing of the season 2 finale on of Alphas on Space last night and were perplexed and confused and seeing last weeks episode on instead, I have some good news for you. Space will be airing the Season 2 Finale on this Wednesday October 24, 2012 at 9pm ET/6pm PT or you can watch it online.

Here are the details from the Space Facebook Page:

"We’re really sorry, due to a technical error the Alphas season finale did not air last night.

Watch it online now (http://bit.ly/TQdPuG) or on SPACE tomorrow night at 9e/6p.

We apologize again for this mishap."

I was really sad the finale wasn't on, but I'm really happy that Space came through and will be airing the finale so soon in addition to having it available online. Now, we just have to make sure we don't inadvertently hear others talking about it!

We have a lot of finales this week and I did find it a bit hard to choose considering last weeks Alphas was so brutal, but I hope they finale with (or actually, preferable without) a bang. This science fiction summer series has been quite a treat the last two years, and I hope we are in for more next year as well. Either way, this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week is:

• Hot Set Season 1 Finale - Tuesday October 23, 2012 on Space This reality competition show that pits set designers head to head comes to a close this week and it's been a really fun ride. It's wild to see the contestants create a fully functional and filmable set each and ever week, and I'm very much looking forward tot he finale.
• Primeval Marathons continue on Space and complete with the airing of Season 5 on Sunday October 28, 2012 on Space. It's the final week of marathons for Primeval and I've been enjoying them each and every week! I can't wait for the beginning of the new series next week!
• Halloween, Halloween 4 & Halloween 5 on AMC Canada If you haven't seen these three installments of the Halloween series now is your chance as AMC is playing this week at multiple times. First viewings are Monday October 22, 2012 evening for Halloween & Halloween 4 and then Tuesday October 23, 2012 evening for Halloween 5. I have no idea if I've seen 4 & 5 myself, so I may very well be checking these out! Check AMC Canada listings here.

It's another epic week at Hexed as we take on the series premieres of Arrow and Beauty and the Beast, series 4 premiere of Vampire Diaries, have in depth discussions on Haven (including loving up Eric Balfour's performance this week), Grimm check in on Supernatural and Alphas. We also check in on Bedlam and Suzie clarifies some of the questions we had about how season 1 ended and the transition to season 2. Up last we chat with huge enthusiasm of the most recent episode of Paranormal Witness which has continued to wow us with amazing storytelling and compelling encounters.

We'll also decided not to chat Fringe right now as we aren't super connecting with this final season.

• American Horror Story Season 2 / Asylum beings on FX Canada on Wednesday October 17, 2012.  We tried this one out in Season 1 and didn't take to it, but I'm happy to see it is again available here in Canada on FX Canada although I still can't tell what it's being branded under 2 titles of Asylum and also American Horror Story.  It's a mystery - which seems to be quite fitting for the show.

Yes, they have great stuff for Halloween but if you are like me, searching for wigs, body glitter and other accessories for Hal-Con this year, this is a great place to shop with awesome prices.


The store is run by seriously fabulous people who have always let me come in, take my weird photos without any hesitation, unlike other costume stores. They even turned on all the animated creatures so I could make this video.

I seriously recommend Ripsters for those looking for the final touches for Hal-Con which is coming up so soon! That reminds me, I have to get some white makeup for my Hexed mascot costume. Maybe I will see you there?

The season premieres continue to roll in and on this week's episode of Hexed, Suzie & Shannon chat premieres of Supernatural S8, Falling Skies S1 and Bedlam S2, continue to love Haven, Grimm and Alphas as well as living through a pretty challenging episode of Fringe. The big surprize of the week was that we absolutely ADORED the extra-long episode of Paranormal Witness which featured the 1975 Travis Walton abduction, a very dear to our hearts story and the show dealt with it extremely well. Paranormal Picks of the Week: Premiere Madness ~ Vampire Diaries, Beauty and the Beast, Arrow and Walking Dead

Vampires, Zombies, Superheros and Creatures galore!! It's a busy week of show premieres with Beauty and the Beast & Arrow debuting, as well as the return of The Vampire Diaries and The Walking Dead. With so many amazing shows returning and new hopefuls starting, we can't help but includes so many of them as the Paranormal Pick(s) of the Week. 

With so many shows on now I was happy to see a healthy amount of repeats, especially for Vampire Diaries & Arrow which have repeat airings early on Friday nights on MuchMusic.  That's smart programming.  We also have some Falling Skies making it's Canadian debut and True Blood Season 4 beginning on Space.  Plus, scary movies The following corresponds to Canadian air dates, but please remember to always check your local listings.



The Vampire Diaries - Season 4 Premiere

The Vampire Diaries holds the honour of being a show that we've talked about since our very first podcast when Vampire Diaries was still in its first season. Although we can harp on it being jammed packed with so much content it's hard to catch everything, and it's certainly gotten harsher over the years, but we still catch it every week (just tone down the torture, would ya?). The series is a spin off from the books by L.J. Smith and follows a human girl who has the same appearance of who stole the hearts of a duo of vampire brothers. Lots of supernatural content of many ilks: high school drama, historical flashbacks, lots of romances and bucket loads of social events the show has won over a very dedicated fan base.  The Walking Dead - Season 3 Premiere 
Sunday October 14, 2012 at 9pm on AMC

If you need to catch up or want to dive into The Walking Dead for the first time, AMC is re-airing the entire series up until the Season 3 premiere. See Season 1 on Saturday October 13, 2012 starting from 10am; Season 2 re-airs as of Saturday October 13, 2012 at 4:53pm as well as Sunday October 14, 2012 6:51am.

We only check in on this one occasionally and we’ve both had strong feelings in both directions on this on, although we both came to enjoy it more in Season 2.  Who knows, maybe it will get added to this years talking roster! Arrow - Series Premiere

Arrow is a new CW series is a "modern retelling of the story of DC Comics character Green Arrow." starring Stephen Amell (Heartland, Private Practice), Colin Donnell, Katie Cassidy (S3 Ruby on Supernatural), David Ramsey, Willa Holland, with Susanna Thompson and Paul Blackthorne (The Gates, The Dresdin Files, The River).  I know this is one of my most anticipated new series of the fall 2012 season, and Suzie & I will be sure to chat about it on the podcast.  See all podcasts and posts where we've discussed Arrow so far here.




Beauty and the Beast - Series Premiere 
Thursday October 11, 2012 at 9pm on Showcase
Repeats Friday at 6pm on Showcase

Another CW series, and it won out over the 2 Beauty and the Beast series between The CW and ABC.  This one is "loosely based on the 1980s CBS series starring Linda Hamilton, Beauty And The Beast is a modern-day romantic love story with a procedural twist."  and stars Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) and Jay Ryan (Terra Nova).  I'm a little more skeptical of this one, and keep trying not to hold the fact that it's taking the timeslot of Secret Circle, but a strong female protagonist and the nouveau gothic vibe to it, I definitely want to check it out.  I'm sure we will chat about it on Hexed, and you cans see all podcasts and posts where we've discussed Beauty and the Beast so far here.

• Falling Skies - Season 1 Begins on Space Monday October 8, 2012 at 9PM.  If we weren't over a year behind on Falling Skies, this would TOTALLY be my #1 pick this week.  I'm super exciting that it will finally begin to air here in Canada.
  
• True Blood - Season 4 Begins on Space Sunday October 14, 2012 at 10pm ET; although it first aired on HBO Canada last summer, if you haven't seen Season 4 now you can catch up on Space (I might do this myself as I'm very behind on my True Blood viewing!).

We are at that busy time of both endings and beginnings, and with 2 awesome shows starting and finishing it's a double does of fun for the picks for this weeks Paranormal Pick(s) of the Week:

The Almighty Johnsons Season 1 Finale
Monday October 1, 2012 at 9pm EST on Space

I could not be more surprized at how taken I was by The Almighty Johnsons in Season 1.  The New Zealand set show features Nordic gods & goddess in everyday life with a great re-interpretation of myths yet keeps the epic scale and prophecy vibe to boot.  And how can resist the great sense of humour and a amazing cast?  Not me!  Who knew Axl, Mike, Ty and Olaf would win us over?  Sorry Anders - you still have to prove yourself!  All that and goddesses that kick butt too. I will anxiously await to see how Season 1 wraps up and hope that Space will air Season 2 soon to not leave us hanging. I will miss this amazing show from the Monday night line up, what a gem!



Supernatural Season 8 Premiere

Supernatural is one of tried and true stand by shows, which Suzie & I have discussed from the very first episode of Hexed back in February 2010 therefore it's always on our radar. What trouble will the boys get into this season? Or out of? Or both (multiple times)? A series spanning into 8 seasons is a rare thing these days, and I hope they have some goodies tucked up their sleeves for us. I'm also thrilled they changed this to Wednesday night, and that CHCH is airing them concurrently with the CW airings in the States. Thank you!

• Bedlam Season 2 Premiere on Space - Saturday October 6, 2012 at 8pm EST; back to the asylum, er... flats! We chatted about Bedlam on and off during it's airing last summer, and this British haunted-house style show was quite interesting with innovative storytelling and ghostly vibe. I'll be very curious to see what they do with Season 2.
• Primeval Marathons Begin - Sundays all throughout October Space is airing Primeval marathons, starting this off with Season 1 & 2 on Sunday October 7, 2012. Season 1 starts bright & early at 6am EST and Season 2 starts at 12noon EST. I'm looking forward to checking out this show from the very beginning.
