Hey all, Shannon here with a new episode run down for The Secret Circle, Episode #12. To refresh your memory these are spoiler filled from the perspective of seeing just the particular episode noted, and the episodes prior to it. Please watch the episode first before reading to save yourself from SPOILERS for The Secret Circle: Episode #12.
Episode #12: Witness
Turns out there is a way from the circle to find out what happened on the day of the fire, Jake was there but he's blocked out the memory and asks Cassie to help him remember it and wow, it's reveal after reveal on that front. We also have Faye on the other side of town hanging out with Lee and new non-friend Callum who's stops by to get herby-drugs.
General Comments
- Loved the look of the abandoned boats
- It was great to see a look into the day of the fire, although I wonder how much of it was what really happened as it's through Jake's kid-eyes, and who knows if he's rousing them on this
- So many reveals this episode! I think it might be a record for the season
- Where was Melissa? Second episode where we don't see her at all!
- Thematically they are going with staying together is better, or rather that disagreement weakens the circle. They need to break that pattern! Get Faye back, and start to learn to work together!

- Callum - a 'client' of Lee's, who he provides devil's spirit too - some kind of herb-drug
- Evan (mentioned/seen in vision) - a witch hunter council member that was there on the day that they tried to kill Cassie's father (per Jake), and actually did kill Jake's dad (per his memory that Cassie 'see's')
- Eva (mentioned) Callum & Lee talk about her as Lee's old girlfriend who took too much of the devil's spirit and it 'destroyed' her

Character Development
- Reveal that Lee used to deal in devil's spirit, and oddly he resists getting it to Callum but then goes and gets it.
- If Jake was 3 years old at the fire 16 years ago, that makes him 19.
- Ethan calls Charles a bully - that he used to be and that is being now, but his Mom pretty much called him a pushover. That doesn't add up.
Relationships
- Cassie says trusts Jake, and she can't explain why
- Dawn has coffee with Diana to get to Charles
- Dawn uses Ethan to get to the crystal off Charles; Ethan threatens to tell the elders
- Faye continues to hang out with Lee
- Jake seems really taken with Cassie, perhaps the attraction spell worked too well?
- Diana & Adam admit they don't know how to be (just) friends
Witch Lore & Actions - Teens
- Cassie & Jake cast a spell for her to help him remember a blocked memory of his past: the fire from 16 years ago. They are suppose to stick together but Cassie goes further in and gets lost in the memory as Jake pulls out of the spell
- When Cassie is choking, Adam, Diana & Jake work to get her breathing
- Jake goes back in to the memory to find her
- Cassie goes to the boat to find the talisman dropped by Blackwell, she shares with Jake that she found it

Arc
- Charles tells Ethan if he doesn't want to repeat history to just walk away; what part is the repeating - being drawn to the power?
- It looks like the adults circle was torn by the non-agreement on whether or not to stop practicing as a way to have a truce with the witch hunters vs those who don't trust them
- Sarah says Amelia won't go near Blackwell after he betrayed her
Reveals
- There is a council of witch hunters
- The council has a ritual to kill witches with dark magic, one they used 16 years ago to kill Cassie's father
- HUGE reveal: Looks like Cassie's father isn't dead
- Those who believed the witch-hunters end up getting attacked by the witch-hunters who kill at least 3 of the witches
- Jake says he believed Isaac who said the witches started the fire, but the memory shows it was the witch-hunters.
- The fire only killed the witch-hunters, maybe 2 of them.
- Any the witches that were their were already dead.
- Blackwell has a talisman/necklace that allows him to turn the fire off of him and back onto the the witch hunters - but it doesn't look like it gets Evan

Questions/Predictions
- Someone talks to Cassie when she is on the boat, a dark haired woman tells her to get out - who is it?
- We see less people die than it's previously been inferred to on the boat fire. It looks like 2 witch-hunters died, and that Evan got out. It looks like 2 women were killed, and we see Richard killed but there are many people who it's thought they died there but we didn't see
- Who buried the animal bones in Blackwell's grave?
- Why do the guys always have to dig stuff up? I mean - can't they use magic for that?
Keeping Tabs On....
- Lee and this dealing thing - it makes no sense if he got out of the dealing biz to get back in under pressure - I think it's all a rouse to get Faye on it.
- Ethan - he helped Dawn and it's inferred he's been drawn to the power before. Plus, he knocks out Charles and takes the crystal off him and he's had a huge tonal shift in character being much more distant and cold. Plus in the memory of the past, it looked they he lead the witch hunters to the boat; did he double cross them? Was he even a part of the circle?
- Some of the things Cassie see's in Jake's memory, it doesn't appear that he would have 'seen' them. Could he be tricking her?
- John's voice sounds altered and we never see him without the mask - is it possible that he isn't the person they attacked?
