Paranormal Pick of the Week ~ Hello Again Alphas Season One
This week it was a bit of a hard call for the pick of the week, I've been favouring season and series premieres and finales pretty heavily, but the is nothing wrong with honouring a revisit of one of our summer shows, and that is exactly what we are going for with this weeks Paranormal Pick of the Week:
Alphas Season One Pilot on Space
Season 1, Episode 1 (Pilot) airs Monday April 30, 2012 at 9PM EST on Space
Now, I re-watched the pilot last Monday night too, so I'm curious to see it here again although if memory serves the first ep is longer than an hour. The good news is next week they are airing episode 2, so hopefully this is a time where folks can re-visit or enjoy the series for the first time as a lead in to Season 2 for which we are still awaiting a premiere date beyond 'Summer'.
If you are unfamiliar with Alphas, the series is centred on characters who have very specific abilities beyond the range of normal human capabilities; when discovered have the option to join an organization or go to 'the compound'. The characters and actors are great, it poses some interesting (and heated) moral dilemmas; and the show often has fabulous guest stars. Suzie & I quickly jumped aboard the Alpha train last summer and have podcasted about it from it's very first episode.
See podcasts & posts discussing Alphas here.
All Awesome This Week:
All our regs are on with new eps and we are right on the edge of finale week for Vampire Diaries, Secret Circle and Fringe, so make sure you keep up to date and don't watch any lead ins this week if you want to avoid spoilers for next week. I've had rotten luck with spoilers recently stumbling on 3 huge reveals by accident. I will be more diligent.
If you missed last weeks pick of Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files Season 2C/3 Premiere you can now watch it online HERE. I LOVED the season opener.
Happy Watching & Have a Great Week!

Todd & The Book fo Pure Evil Not Returning on Space
Image: Chris Leavins as Atticus, Alex House as Todd Smith, Maggie Castle as Jenny Kolinsky, Bill Turnbull as Curtis Weaver, Melanie Leishman as Hannah B. Williams
From the Space Facebook Page on April 24, 2012:
"Todd & The Book of Pure Evil will not return for a third season on SPACE. SPACE remains very proud of this production and looks forward to building on the creative relationships developed through the series. SPACE is looking forward to additional upcoming original productions, including Primeval: New World."
Now, on first read I interpreted that as Todd and the Book of Pure Evil is done for, especially when reading elsewhere like Playback has also reported on the cancellation of Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, but a careful read actually indicated it's just not returning on SPACE. It could go somewhere else. I wonder if it will!
I really do hope Todd and the Book of Pure Evil does find a new home. It's not a show that Suzie & I regularly talk about as it's not quite to our taste as it's pretty clear they are going for a young, male audience. But I do love that it's Canadian, and the commercials always make me laugh. And I will admit that I have on occasion watched it and giggled. A lot.

Lost Girl Season One on DVD on April 24, 2012
It's so exciting to see when one of the shows we talk about is embraced by excited fans, and I think it's very fair to say that Lost Girl has won the hearts of fans internationally, and right here at home in Canada. This makes it even more fun to share that Season 1 is not available on DVD here in Canada including on Amazon.ca as of April 24, 2012.
This succubus & friends in the fae world has a beautiful combination of friendship, racey relationships and kicking butt, with tons of characters to love. I'm actually really curious to see Season 1 again although Season 2 has already wrapped up (and they are already in production on Season 3), and hope to pick it up really soon. Sadly though, commenters on Amazon.ca report that the DVDs have no extras. Drat! I still want it though.
As Suzie & I have been on board with Lost Girl since it's very first episode back in the Fall of 2010. If you are checking out the series for the very first time on DVD or revisiting it, you can always delve into the Hexed archives to hear us with all our crazy theories an enthusiasm as we experience it for the first time.

Hexed Memory Lane!
- Our first ever podcast was live!
- We started without even having a website (but had one since Episode 8), but did quite quickly get a Facebook Fanpage.
- Started out talking abut 2 shows: Vampire Diaries Season 1 and Supernatural Season 5; and didn't know if we've even have anything else to about once the summer hit.
- We talk about shows that we've lost: Past Life, The Gates and Paranormal State
- We talk about shows that we've found: Lost Girl, Fact or Faked, Secret Circle
- We talk about shows Suzie convinced Shannon to watch (Fringe, Grimm) and a few that Shannon still hasn't seen like (Ghost Adventures)
- We've survived Pneumonia, a car running into Shannon's house, losing internet and way to many tech challenges.
- We've celebrated Suzie attending Hal-Con last year and doing amazing coverage of the convention to share the experience with everyone.
- And we've never not once in these 100 episodes, have recorded in the same room! Definitely time for a visit.
- We discover that BBC has confirmed season 5 of Being Human UK for a 6-episode season.
- Just today it was announced that Fringe has been renewed by Fox for a Fifth and Final Season, which will be 13 episode.
- We mention the mammoth list of Supernatural Guest Stars over at Zap2it, although fair warning that there is a upcoming guest star that's a spoiler for those of use who consider guest stars spoilers.
- We chat about Shannon's epic quest to watch all 10 seasons of Stargate SG-1, which is just about coming to a close.
- After all the 23 talk, Shannon actually remember incorrectly and our most popular episode appears to be Episode 26 from the late summer of 2010 where we chatted Haven, True Blood and The Gates.
The Fine Print (spoiler notations)
We talk about the shows in depth, so please watch first and then listen. We don't look ahead or watch trailers, teasers, look at casting info, so any predictions and commentary are from our own minds.
For Being Human UK fans, we have a unique reverse-spoiler notation as we've seen the North American version of Being Human through all of Season 2, so we may touch on characters and events from that series as well, so please watch it first if you want to be spoiler free!

Even more special than it's return is that we are just 1 week behind the US airing of the show where in the past it's been months. Paranormal Pick of the Week: Being Human UK Season 4 Finale
Image: Annie (Lenora Crichlow); Being Human UK debuts on Space on Saturday, February 25 at 9 p.m. ET
Season / Series 4 comes to a close this week and wow this time it's gone fast; I don't know how they cram so much awesome into 1h 15 minute chunks. I'll be the first to say that I did not anticipated enjoying this season after the first episode. But they won me over yet again with great characters, amazing stories and always maintained that amazing balance between humour and heartbreak. And with that, this weeks paranormal pick of the week is:
Being Human (UK) Season 4 Finale (Episode 8)
Saturday April 21, 2012 at 9pm EST on Space
I think the Canadian schedule is a week behind the US friends as we didn't have an episode on Easter weekend and when I checked in on Get Glue last weekend for episode 7 I got a sticker for the season finale. If I had known I would have fake checked in last weekend!
Also awesome this week:
- Eureka Season 5 Premiere tonight Monday April 16, 2012 at 10pm EST on Space
- Monster Man Season Finale on Wednesday April 18, 2012 at 10pm EST and Marathon on April 22, 2012 starting at 9am EST; both on Space
- Alien Tornado movie premiere on Saturday April 21, 2012 at 10:15pm EST on Space

1 More Week til Podcast 99!
Well, this week tech challenges got the best of us so we've decided to belay our Fringe and Being Human (both versions) discussions until next week. Thanks for understanding and I hope you don't mind us taking an inadvertent hiatus, while most shows are... hiatusing.
Until next week, stay spooky!

Paranormal Pick of the Week: Being Human (North American) Season 2 Finale
Image from Being Human: Episode 8 I've Got You Under Your Skin
Time to tuck in and see how our supernatural roommates finish off their second season. This weeks paranormal pick of the week is:
Being Human (North American) Season 2 Finale (Episode 13)
Monday April 9, 2012 at 10pm EST on Space
I think it's safe to say that Suzie & I have had our ups and downs with this show, especially this seasons with it running concurrently to the UK Series 4, but I can't help but be oh-so-curious to who they will wrap it all up for the year. As the North American version has been renewed for a third season of another 13 episodes, so even though tonight it comes to a close we will see more in the future. But what will the future for Josh, Aidan & Sally hold? Only time will tell.
If you haven't had a chance to catch up with Being Human North American Season 2 yet, you are in luck as Space is airing the entire season marathon style on Sunday April 15, 2012 starting at 8AM EST (as always, check your local listings for airings in your area).

Poll Results: Which Returning Show Has Had the Strongest Season (So Far)
We have a hand-down winner with The Walking Dead snapping out a whooping 53% of your votes for Which Returning Show Has Had the Strongest Season (So Far); I do wonder if the fact that the season is just over has a smidge to do with it.
Personally I run the gambit of love for the show, sometimes loving it and sometimes wanting to throw things at the TV; but even I can concede that Season 2 kicked a heck of a lot of walker-butt.
53% - The Walking Dead
13% - Tie: Lost Girl & Vampire Diaries
6% - Tie: Being Human (UK), Fringe & Supernatural

New Series: Continuum
Image: Cast Picture for Continuum
The new science fiction series Continuum has had more teaser trailers kicking about (I saw them during the Lost Girl finale), and they do say 'coming soon' and 'spring 2012' but I think I saw one that said May as well *. Details are still sparse but there is this description "A detective from the year 2077 who finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver, and searching for ruthless criminals from the future." and it will star Rachel Nichols, Victor Webster, Erik Knudsen as well as Stephen Lobo, Roger Cross, Lexa Doig, Omari Newton, Luvia Petersen and Terry Chen.
So, want to take a look? There is this trailer which features the series protagonist (sadly not embedible) as well as this trailer:
And this super-short teaser:
* Update - although there isn't tons kicking around online yet, I did find images here at Spoiler TV, which also indicates it Premieres May 13, 2012.
And for the geo-blocked US folks, you can see one of the trailers here.
I'll be looking forward to seeing & sharing more about Continuum.

Paranormal Pick of the Week: Being Human (North American) Season 2 Almost-Finale
Image From: Episode 8 - I've Got You Under Your Skin (Henry, Aidan and Suren)
We are sooooo close to finale time with our Boston (cough*Montreal*cough) supernatural roommates, therefore this weeks pick is:
Being Human (North American) Season 2 Almost-Finale * (Episode 12)
Monday April 2, 2012 at 10pm EST on Space
We are just on the edge of the Season 2 finale, and regular Hexed listeners will know that Suzie & I have had some challenges with this season but as they rev up for end of the season I'm getting won back over (again!). I'll have to see if Suzie feels the same when we discuss the latest episode later this week!
Also Awesome This Week:
Get freaked out this Easter with Space's Paranormal Easter Weekend Marathon, with the spookiest of paranormal films including Paranormal Activity, Poltergeist & The Blair Witch Project plus a marathon of the show Paranormal Witness. That's a bucketload of Paranormal! Runs Saturday April 7 - Sunday April 8, 2012 (check your local listings).
It's a pretty quiet week this week, looks like most show are taking time for off (for Easter, perhaps?) but we get a new episode of Fringe this week, however almost all other shows are off for a week or two. Maybe I'll finally catch up on some sleep!
* It was really hard not to use the word penultimate, even though it's technically correct, it's also just a crazy word to use. For the curious, it means next-to-last.
