Great podcast girls, just a little something which I noticed in the latest poll because her name came up three times. I think it's Elena and not Elana. ;D
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elena_Gilbert#Main_characters
You're right, it's Elena, thanks so much Cassi!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't real in the sense that it was ALL a plot by the 'Babylon the great'. She controlled the demons and with using the false enochian exorcism spell, the demons left the bodies to make the town folk people believe her lies.
ReplyDeleteBTW why are so bothered with the term 'Whore of Babylon'? It's just an allegorical figure.
Lisa was in season 3 and they always show clips from the returning characters in their recaps. He visited her because she was the closest thing to the idea of having a family and basically fulfilling himself one last wish.
I find the show is not very positive when it comes to women, there are many references to women being thought of as mostly whores in general although there are a few exceptions. That's why the term "whore of Babylon" makes me roll my eyes.
ReplyDeleteI never noticed Lisa in any of the recaps before, weird! She'd never be the one I'd figure Dean would think of but I guess they had to pick someone, lol.
ReplyDeletere: Whore of Babylon - I just don't like the term Whore for starters. It's one-sided term (i.e. apparently only applies to women in terms of describing behaviour) and the show unfortunately takes any opportunity it can get to use derogatory terms when it comes to women. It's the one thing I don't like about the show.
And, yes it's allegory but someone decided to use it. I don't know much about the background there but wikipedia lists it as "Whore of Babylon" or "Babylon the great". Someone, somewhere, chose to use that term. Everything is choice.
